“I bought these because I read a number of forums and product reviews saying these improve shift smoothness and make shifting more engaging. I would say the main difference I have noticed is the shift feels more "peaky". Going into gear provides just a little more force but then gives you a more pronounced snap into gear. Going out of gear is similar. So I agree it feels maybe more engaging and snappy, but if you want smoother shifts I personally got more out of a taller shift knob and replacing the trans fluid.
As for the installation process you can do it with the shift cables in the car (the instruction video by Acuity shows them out of the car), but the space is pretty confined and you may have to move some shields and cables out of the way to make it work. Other than that pretty straightforward as the instructions show.
So after driving for a few weeks I think it is a nice change, although not a drastic one.”
“These are a bit spendy, but are of the high quality that you can expect from Acuity. The install is not very difficult if you follow the guides, and pay particular attention to the factory bushing removal process. The end result is somewhat "crisper" and more confident shifting. Although not earth-shattering, these are a worthy upgrade. When paired with other shifter upgrades, the effect is even more pronounced. After a short break-in period they smooth out a bit and continue to provide the solid action you're looking for. Couple these with the fully-adjustable Acuity short shifter assembly and the shifting action of your car will feel like a bolt-action rifle.”
“This simple upgrade provides a solid feel to each gate. When you slide the shifter into each gear it feels like a solid wall stopping you instead of a mushy feeling compared to stock. This upgrade plus the short shifter assembly really changes the entire feel of the car.”
