Set this up, turned it on and got no benefit at all. Calls still dropped and signal was still just one bar. Might be a bad unit or it might just not work at all.

I have a small two bedroom apartment in the back of the building so I get very poor reception. If I stand by one window I can use my phone. I stuck the antenna to this window and the placed the repeater at the far end of the apartment and when I turned it one I had a signal everywhere. In the far corners it’s only a bar or two but it’s enough to keep a phone call going. Over a two year contract, this thing comes out to just over $12 a month. That’s a steal since it lets me use my cell phone that I pay over $100 a month for! I definitely recommend this kit!

The setup was easy, just stick the one antenna to the window, run the (cheap and thin) cable from the antenna to the amplifier and away we go. From the couch 5 feet away I didn’t notice any more bars, but the calls were clearer and didn’t drop. Unfortunately, after 10 to 15 feet I got no improvement. This isn’t powerful enough for my house so I sent it back and got a refund.

We have a motorhome and since the thing is basically a giant metal box, we didn’t get a signal inside when there’s a weak signal outside. We thought this might meet our needs but when we installed it, it didn’t seem to work at all. It turns out that the window we installed it on was tinted and that can really reduce the signal coming in, so we moved it to another window further from the base station and between the increased distance and the better window, we were able to get a good signal over the entire area. Of course, this thing isn’t magic. If we don’t have a signal outside the motorhome, we won’t get one inside. It only works when there’s something to amplify!
