Apart from the fact that the mattress wasn’t sent on the agreed time and that it’s (very) difficult to get a decent rectangular shape when stacking the three layers of latex in the wooden case, I love how comfy it is.

Delivered on One pallet containing 3 large boxes this is a substantial bit of kit. Assembly is a good workout that requires a good rest afterwards and the Una Mattress provides that. Comfortable and it provides a great night’s sleep, I hope that will continue and this expensive mattress proves a good buy in the long term as well.

Superb mattress and customer service. I ordered this after returning an awful Casper mattress which smelt v chemically. Great to know all of the organic credentials with the UNA Mattress, no chemical smell or off gassing with the Una thankfully. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Thank you for your kind words, very much appreciated! :)
I'm not going to lie, i was sceptical about how comfy the UNA mattress would/could be compared to a good pocket sprung one. I shouldn't have been !! Simply put this is the best mattress i have ever slept on. We went with the std setup hard/soft/medium and i have to say for us its perfect. I haven't slept as well in years. If you are considering buying one just do it, you wont regret it. Well done UNA 10 out of 10

I got this mattress after 10 years of a metal spring mattress. The springs had started to poke through and I thought I'd go spring free. The biggest plus of no springs is that latex does not need fire retardant as it is naturally fire resistant and the wool that Una uses are also fire resistant. This was very important to me as I have M.E. and I'm chemically sensitive. I once had a terrible experience with a new bed and after that always bought ex display models that had been aired for some time. This bed was EXTREMELY pricey. But having M.E. and spending a lot of time in bed, I thought it was worth the investment. £1000 pounds is only 27p a night if it lasts 10 years (as per guarantee). And with the risk of being made ill from a standard mattress, it was one of a few I could buy. I was impressed with their sales pitch and the three firmness levels. If you haven't tried a bed out it would be very risky to buy one online. Three firmness levels made me somewhat reassured. Now to the problems. No.1 Delivery. The delivery company did not bring it very close. In fact, not even to my door. They bought it to the end of my path and left it on a crate there. At the end of my path is a narrow road so we had to get it out of the way in case a van came down. I am disabled (as mentioned above) so could definitely not help move the mattress. Luckily my dad (who's 70) lives nearby and was able to be round in a jiffy to help. Imagine if you live alone and are disabled. I don't know what you would do. It was very heavy. Even in three parts. Getting it in and up the stairs was a three person job (although me and mum didn't do much) and it took over 3 hours! Unpacking and getting the three layers on top of each other and then into the cloth cover. Very tricky. Problem No.2 - The smell. As mentioned previously, I am chemically sensitive. I was a little worried when we unpacked to smell quite a strong smell. It was kind of farmyardy. Salami mixed with chocolate. I was relieved that it smelt quite 'natural' and hoped it would dissipate. The woollen/cotton cover was the smelliest thing. It was bearable at first but with your face on it all night, I eventually started feeling sick! I was quite upset because I didn't want to have to return it. The palaver would be terrible! My hubby decided to take the cover off and air on the washing line. It didn't help so we washed it in the washing machine. We haven't tried it since. I have a different sheet on now. The other layers had a bit of smell too, but after a week or two the smell had faded enough for me to hardly notice. Phew! It should be noted that the smell did not make me unwell like previous chemicals. Just pongy and unpleasant like smelling a farmyard animal! Problem No. 3 - Firmness. This upset me the most. I took their advice and had the medium layer on the top. Apparently 80% prefer this way. Not me. It was horrendous! Like sleeping on the floor. What with the firmness and the smell, I had the worst night sleep I've ever had. The next night (more heaving and moving around), I tried the soft layer. It was definitely better. But it was not perfect. It's still not. It is not soft enough for me. I sleep on my side and I'm 9st approximately (so average woman or a bit lighter). I did not sink into the mattress adequately. My hip was pushed upwards into what I feel is a bit of an unnatural position. After a few nights I got used to it a bit more and try to sleep very high up the bed as it is softer at the ends than in the centre. For me the soft layer should be a bit softer. However, I am hoping it might give a bit over time. It is better than my old one (with the uncomfy springs) and chemical free so I will live with it and hope it gets even better. I was worried about heat dispersion and the latex getting too hot. They said it had holes in it to cool you down and I must say that it has worked. I have not been too hot at all. It is really comfy to be in during the day and I am starting to like it more and more. I only knock a star off because it could be a bit softer. The customer service were very friendly and it does have 100 night trial and free returns. But in all seriousness, you really won't want that hassle. If you're more than 9 stone, I'd give it a try. Be prepared to have muscle when it arrives and wash the cover before you waste time putting it all together. Good luck!
