Overpriced. I paid for highest grade and these were noisy. There are many better tubes for the money.

Exactly what I was looking for, sounds great on my Crack amplifier with a 5998.

"THE TUBE GODS HAVE BLESSED US!!!" says Upscale Audio about the Brimar 12AU7. Well, yes. Yes they have. My Rogue integrated amp and Sonus Faber Liutos are a few years old now and, like many audiophiles, I was cruising the internet looking at upgrades. I had already upgraded tubes twice and was happy, but thought I'd give these highly rated up Brimars a try. The improvement in sound was unbelievable. For under $200, I felt like I had a new stereo system. I'm not kidding. My advice is, if you need some new preamp tubes, get these. For what these tubes do, the price is extremely reasonable.

Sounds good, but have not even tried it against the stock tube. The cryo treatment seems to be hyped by Upscale audio, but appears to be audio snake oil. Google around a bit and you will find lack of any changes in comparative listening double blind tests. From a material science perspective, cryo makes no sense either, except for really bad tubes getting destroyed by strong temperature gradients.

Ordered a matched quad of the CJ Special Test grade to try in my Rogue Audio RP-7 preamp. I think the stock JJ 802 tubes sound excellent, especially for the cost. Have about 50 hours on these Brimars and there was certainly a change for the better from initial installation to this point. Very nice soundstage, no harshness at all in the treble, and just a very clean and clear musical presentation.
