Tube replacement for BAT VK-P10. Unit is 12 yrs old on original tubes. Started experiencing left channel loss of amplitude with distortion. Upscale recommended the Electro-Harmonix for BAT gear. I replaced all 8 of the 6922's and both 6SN7's with the same Electro-Harmonix Platinum grade. Problem fixed. Spinning vinyl of course, but it will be a while before they are broken in.

These tubes work well in my BAT VK-3xi. I purchased a number of matched Electro-Harmonix 6922 tubes from a popular auction site. The problem is nearly all are noisy to the point of hearing them at my listening position when muted. When purchased platinum grade from Upscale a black background. I would have saved myself money, frustration, and time by doing it right the first time by purchasing from Upscale who actually listen to the tube.

These tubes took my Schitt Audio Valhalla to the next level. I wasn't pleased with amps stock tubes. Going to order another set now:)

I've been using a pair of these somewhere for 15 years. Good for the price, they're brand new, a known-good quantity. Save your money, the gold pins have no advantage sonically. But you do get what you pay for. Having said that these are much better than the Sovteks I had originally. Kevin's summary of these types of tubes is accurate. The Nationals are 'relaxed' to a flaw. These EH wake up quite a bit from that, but they still have a somewhat reticent presence region. The type 3 are properly alive with a flat frequency balance, better dynamics and a cleaner presentation throughout. Don't know why anyone wouldn't want the latter. But as I said you get what you pay for. Compared to even mid-priced tubes, these are somewhat slow, grainy, tubbier bass, thicker mids. For nearly the same price, my choice is current-production JJ Teslas that seem to do everything well.
