“This is an update on my previous review. The pop and noise was taken care of. I ordered a dental kit and used it to push the tube pin sockets together to get a better fit for the tubes and cleaned them . (The dental kit is what you need, just a hint if you do not know.) No issues since and it is sounding wonderful!! I have Phillips PCC88/6DJ8 in it right now and have been running these for quite a while. There is a older video out there with Uncle Kev talking about this tube. I bought my set from him when he was selling them in fact I have many tubes I bought from him and they all have been just great. Thank you, anyway the amp is for the money you cannot go wrong in fact I would love to buy another and still considering it but would like to step up a little however then there is the wife. I have so much equipment and NOS tubes I really do not know what to do with it all. . Uncle Kev has never let me down. I just bought the Cabasse Java MC speakers and they sound wonderful especially playing Jazz or blues. I know all is subjective but for my budget and setup all is well.”

“First I will say I really love this amp as in my previous reviews. I have had it about year and half now. It has worked great. However I am having trouble for what ever reason it does not like gold plated pin tubes. I do not get it. I put them in I get pops static. I put in a regular pin tube no issues sounds great. I take that same tube and put into another amp it works fine. i have tried several different tubes same thing.. Made sur pins are clean made sure the pin holes are clean no dice.. I do not know what is going on but it does not like them anymore. I am not talking cheap tubes here either. Anyway I guess no more gold pin tubes for that thing.. sounds crazy but it is fact. I do not get it.”

“I've been looking to complete my audio system (also purchased from Upscale) with a pair of headphones and a headphone amp. I went to my local audio store to audition the headphones I was looking to purchase and to discuss headphone amps. Once again, I was disappointed by their lack of knowledge and willingness to see how I could set up a headphone amp and headphones with my current system. Uncle Kevin says to patronize your local audio store, and I did, only to be told I would have to spend at least $5k on a good quality amp and system after I told them my budget was around $3k. After my frustration, I came home and called Upscale. Richard O'Neill answered the phone. He asked questions about my system, the headphones I was looking to purchase and my budget. He took the time to see what would be the best set up for what I have. He recommended the Feliks Audio MK II which would be a great complement to the Focal Clear Mg headphones I would also purchase. He also explained to me how to set it up with my Mobile Fidelity integrated amp. The experience of working with him was beyond reproach. With cables, everything came a little above my budge, but for me, that was fine. I was very excited to receive the amp and headphones. It was a breeze to set up. It's my first tube amp as well. First track - Janos Starker playing Bach's Unaccompanied cello suites, 45rpm, Analogue Productions. The clarity of the tones and the openness of the sound brought tears to my eyes. I could hear sounds I never heard before. Next up - the voices of Joni Mitchell, Taylor Swift, Billie Holiday, Billie Eilish, Janis, Elton John, Billy Joel, etc. were as if I was in another realm. The jazz of John Coltrane, Fred Hersch, Dave Brubeck, etc., were like I was sitting in a club. I cannot say enough about this amp and headphone combination. I feel like I'm in another world when I am listening to the Focals with this amp. I also cannot say enough about the customer service and knowledge of those at Upscale Audio.”
