I spoke with Josh and took his KT66 recommendation after some pretty quick breakdown on the stock tubes with my PrimaLuna. I am not close to an audiophile and even my ears could detect a significant difference - this now feels like the right balance on my set-up as a sound to cost ratio. I've read a lot of negative words about Upscale on the boards (and plenty of positive) but my 2cents is I have not been upsold or patronized during the build of a complete system. FWIW Upscale has my vote. Cheers.

After some hours they sound very similar to GE 6L6GC tubes, but at a more affordable price point and, of course, are much easier to find as a matched quad. Remember, these have HIGHER heater current than 6L6GC tubes, so be sure your amp can safely run them. The current is about the same as an EL34 tube, so you should be fine if your amp is designed to run those.

The KT66s opened up the sound stage, and mids & highs are more extended than the EL34 tubes previously installed. I am very pleased with the tubes, and the purchase process through Upscale.

I have been using these KT66s for a while now. They sound great in my gear. It should be noted that they absolutely are NOT drop in replacements for any of the 6L6 family of tubes. These tubes have an output impedance that is vastly different from any 6L6. If you have them in a PP Class AB1 amp they will have around a 8Kohm p-p impedance compared to about 5.3Kohms for the 6L6 family. They also have power hungry filaments. Some filament sections will not be adequate. Check the spec sheets! These ARE a drop in replacement (with biasing and adequate filament current) for 6V6s, which have the same output impedance.

Dropped these KT 66 Tubes in my PrimaLuna Dialogue HP integrated and it sheer bliss when combined with the NOLA KO Speakers. The mids are stunning. These tubes are definitely worth experimenting with...Thank you Upscale for the fabulous advice!

I've used Kevin's cryo-treated KT-66's for my single-ended boutique amps for almost two years now. What a glorious power tube! They not only sound amazing, even just one in a single-ended amp is loud enough to fill my church and get my sound guy to tell me to please turn down that magical amp!! They big and as absolutely beautiful looking as they are sounding. Upscale Audio and Gold Lion gives me hope that the vacuum tube industry is alive and well. Thanks Kevin!

Replaced 5881s in a pair of refurbished Quad II mono blocks. Speakers are Spendor SP1s. The 5881s were long in the tooth ... but still sounded pretty good. Or so I thought. These KT66s are a substantial improvement ... especially in terms of dynamics and 'pop'. Bottom end is very good right out of box. I'm very pleased.
