“For a Cary SLP-94 with recently upgraded coupling capacitors. I was using RCA 12AU7 black plates, which sounded very good, when I read of other SLP-94 users recommending current production Electro-Harmonix 12BH7 tubes (interchangeable with 12AU7 in the Cary). I tried them and was actually surprised at the subtle, but noticeable improvement in overall clarity and midrange depth. Later I saw general recommendations for the Gold Lion re-issued line of tubes for their close approximation of vintage tone qualities. Since new production Gold Lion is part of New Sensor with also makes Electro-Harmonix tubes, thought I’d try the Gold Lion 12AU7s in Upscale Audio’s Platinum grade. These also gave another small, but still noticeable and appreciated change, adding a smoother, richer overall sound. Construction quality is also very impressive.”

“Purchased to replace the original JJ's in my Rogue Sphinx v3. What a difference! The background is now next to nil. I no longer experience any microphonic noise as I occasionally had with the JJ's. Platinum no/cryo. Best $100 upgrade ever!”
