I upgraded from a Lumin D2 to a Lumin T2 and I couldn't be happier. If you read the reviews, what they say is true: the player gets out of the way and lets the music shine on through. Baroque, Downtempo, Electronics, Classic Rock (with some newer stuff chucked in), and Progressive - I'm hearing it all for the very first time, it seems, and it all sounds wonderful. If you're thinking about buying a Lumin - do it. You will not be sorry.

Overall a very sweet sounding player. Very spacious sound stage, nice details in the mids and highs. Bass is ok, I would prefer a little more slam, but not bad. It did take me about 2 weeks of burn in before sounding good. Here's what I don't like about this product: - The only interface is app based. I use the IOS version, it is actually fairly well design and easy to use. I don't use Roon, so I can't comment on that experience. I have some stability issue with the app. Sometimes it would not connect to the unit, I usually have to reboot my iPhone to get it working again. Very frustrating. - I wish Lumin would add support for infrared remote for simple functions like start, stop, pause, play, and as a bonus, ability to scroll the current playlist. I hate to have to go to the app for everything. I don't like having to reach for my phone for every little thing. Simple thing like dimming the display takes a handful of steps to get to. I wish I had known about this before purchasing the unit. It didn't cross my mind about the lack of remote control. I don't mind paying more money for this feature alone. - The implementation of 'shuffle' feature is flawed. I have posted my comment on some online forum and will not repeat here. I wish Lumin would address that. Overall I give it a 4 star, taking one away for usability.

I have had my Lumin T2 for about a month and couldn’t be happier. The streamer sounds amazing in my system. The team at Upscale Audio’s recommendation was dead on. Regarding the Lumin app, while it is intuitive and easy to use, my preference is Roon. That said, if you don’t want to spend the extra money on Roon, the Lumin app works very well with both Tidal and Quboz.
