Sorry, I have to disagree with KD on this one, though it may be a matter of sonic taste and particular gear. In any of the three locations in my modded Sonic Frontiers Line 1 SE, they behaved similarly. They sucked the life out of music primarily because their macrodynamics are poor, and their presence region (upper-mids/lower-treble) is almost entirely MIA. I suppose if you want a truly 'relaxed' sound these would fit the bill, but so would mp3s of dynamically compressed music. They do have decent bass, image focus (though no dimensionality), there's some mid-treble once you get past the missing presence region. What mids are there are nicely rendered. For me at this price point that's not the polar opposite of these but neutral down the middle would be the JJ Teslas. But that's just my experience...

Amazing deal for even better sound. It has the clarity, sound stage and air on top that everyone talks about. Easily one of my favorite pairs for my Valhalla 2. And considering the price, it's an absolute steal.

Awesome service and good sound. I have a Schiit Audio Vali 2. Works very will and sounds good with metal or pop music. No breakage in shipping, which I was really worried about. I will be buying from Upscale from now on as long as they have the line of tubes I need.

I have now gone through 2 sets of these tubes and changed each set because it had been in the preamp for 1 year. The tubes that were removed had no issues and I have them set aside for future testing. The sound quality of these tubes is exactly how Kevin states and they have a good extended range with a slightly "buttered-up" midrange. The tube cannot be characterized as overly "tubey" sounding but neither are they dead neutral. Its like the best of best worlds in a tube that is tough and inexpensive...highly recommended.

So far these tubes are quite good. Fine detail and better texture than the 6H23n that comes with the Audible Illusions L2 preamp and is recommended on their website.

My set-up: Lenovo Y50-70 UHD via S/PDIF/TOSLINK @ 24 bit 192KHz to Schiit Biföst multibit to Schiit Valhalla 2 to Sennheiser HD800 I decided on this tube and went with the gold grade cryo treated option, the reviews were very positive and promising so I expected a lot from these...and definitely got that. Out of the three sets (Valhalla 2 has 2 slots) I have these are by far the most neutral and lush sounding. I have the stock tubes and JJ 6922 gold pin which are all around the same price, but the Matsushitas outclass them both easily. The level of detail these are able to pull out of the music is just stunning, not to mention the resolution and ridiculously rich mids. These sound so natural and pair perfectly with the HD800s. Every time I am overwhelmed with awe at how this tube preforms.

Kevin's description is accurate, this is a very nice tube with a liquid smooth warmth in the mids, yet in my AR SP9 Mk III, I'm lacking just a bit at both the top and bottom. Fun tubes, but I switched back to the Sovteks. Guess I like it more clinical.
