I had hoped that the Matsushita 7DJ8 would be a home run but it was pretty unremarkable. It was smooth but lacked three dimensionality and body. In many ways it just lacked life. It may be a good driver tube but did not work well in either my SAS 11A preamp or my Monarchy DAC24. The Red Rockets (type 3's) are much better in my DAC and the plain ole JJ's are much better in my preamp. Oh well its all fun and it was a good experiment.

Full flavor" sound, and very quiet in my BAT Phono-stage. In my honest opinion; a definite step up from the stock tubes and a real bargain.

These are terrific tubes for jazz and chorale music. They are a bit forward vocally but very intimate. Quite musical with great tonal quality.

Had these, untreated, in my Audible Illusions Modulus M3a and bought a quartet, cyro treated, for the future. Swapped out the untreated, which are awesome and about 2 years old and still sounding great, with the treated and about 5 hours later--wow. More definition, more extension, better timbre, better imaging, better everything. Kevin does not recommend this tube for AI's any longer but I love them. No microphonics either. Highly recommended.

I've used Uncle Kevvy's recommended Platinum-grade Electro Harmonix 6922's ever since I've owned my BAT VK-3i. Uncle Kevvy told me these were much better, and he was right! Much quieter, much more liquid (no grain), excellent at both frequency extremes, and interestingly, much better ease AND much better detail/transparency. Usually, you get one at the expense of the other. Better soundstaging. Had my set cryo'd, and probably will again, given the modest incremental cost. Easy choice when compared to the Electro Harmonix 6922s for the BAT VK-3i.

Unfortunately, these did not live up to expectations in my M3A. I found them to be flat and lifeless, even congested sounding compared to the type 3 Russian tubes I've been using for the last 10 years or so. Given the overwhelmingly positive response from other customers, with only a few others having the same negative experience as me, it would appear that these tubes may have some sample to sample variances, or be system dependent. Nevertheless, given the specific recommendation for my "crazy-ass" preamp, I am very disappointed.

This tube reminds me of a fine wine that just keeps getting better as it ages or in this case as it is used more and more. It has replaced the tired old Chinese 6DJ8 that was in my AR SP-14. I'm very pleased with this Matsushita PCC88-7DJ8
