These are a real bargain for the price. The real good stuff and boy are they amazing. There are a few day and night tubes, and these are just beaming with sunlight. As with all of the tubes that Upscale Audio sells, and the great prices, once they are gone, the only thing the tire kickers will have are the memories of when they believed the prices were too high. As with any out of production tubes, these 6201 Mullards have an amazing top to bottom coherency. In the Atma MP-1 Phonostage they work like magic.

I replaced the new production Tung Sols in my microZOTL2 headphone amp with these gold pin 6201s. The improvement was dramatic. The sound is now lighter, airier and less mechanical. Now I understand why this amp is so highly regarded.

Well worth the money. These tubes, in conjunction with Telefunken 6922's are in my Sonic Frontiers PhonoStage-1, and they are just remarkable.

I have a set of the "non gold pin" version (4024s) and like 'em so much I felt I had to have the gold pin version so I'm covered in case the supply dries up. Also gold plating is a good thing due to the non corrosive nature. They sound similar to the 4024s, meaning they work really well...a very nice tube and a serious bargain in NOS tubeland. The 4024s are now resting.

I picked up two of these for my Rogue Ares phono stage preamp to get a little more gain than I was getting with the stock 12AU7's. But, I ended up with too much gain and probably should have consulted with Kevin about what I was doing before I did it. No worries though as at low volumes for the brief period that I had them installed, I could clearly hear them doing everything described on Upscale's site. Very nice tubes that I now have in my arsenal should I pick up another piece of equipment in need of that particular tube. After these, I did consult with Kevin and I picked up the vintage Cifte 12AU7's. Quite please with those and will save my comments for their proper review. Tube Rolling is fun and interesting experimentation. Dealing with Kevin and Upscale audio is always a top shelf affair! Keep up the good work on your global quest for vintage tubes Kevin.

First off, Iet me say that uncle Kev's no-nonsense business model is simply the best. And who else goes to the ends of the earth (literally) to help you navigate the shark-infested waters of tube hunting? I got a Platinum, cryo pair of these gems, and they are BETTER than described! I've rolled RCA 6201 black plates, Philips Miniwatts, Mullard CV 4024s, and the Psvane Chinese tubes (mentioned below), which I found to be a bit "lean." I partnered the Mullard 6201 AT7s with the mighty Pope / Bugle Boy 12AX7s I got from Upscale Audio several years back. The Popes can be somewhat anti-social (no pun intended) in terms of who occupies the neighboring 12AT7 sockets. With the Miniwatts, they could overwhelm. In my rig, the RCA black plates were a step up from the Mullard CV4024s, but nowhere NEAR as musically involving as the cryo'd Mullard 6201 gold pins. Listen to Sarah McLachlan's "Vox" (on CD) through them and you will notice a wonderful clarity and separation in the instruments in the intro. Or try out Martin Taylor: Artistry (Linn), or Stockfisch's The Spirit of Gambo (both on SACD) for sheer sonic bliss. I used to own Magnepan 3.6s. I now have NHT Classic Threes (at one-sixth the price), and, using all silver cabling and the Mullard 6201s, I am getting 90% of the musicality and spooky-real 3-D imaging I was spoiled with. Grab these Mullards while you still can!

When Kevin says... bass and treble extension, he means it. I bought these to replace high-end Chinese Psvane tubes (which cost more than these). After putting them in, I got lost in the music a little bit and thought, "oh I really should be trying these without my (bi-amped subwoofer." Well, the subwoofer was not turned on! After about one-month of delight, I switched back my old tubes .... just to hear the difference again. It was like putting my wife's 1% milk in my coffee. 'nuf said.
