Replaced the stock tubes in my Project Tube box DS phono stage. All I can say is WOW!! More clarity, drums are crisp, vocals silky , top end is just right. Bass more defined. Lower noise floor. I was looking at a new phono stage but decided to spend $70 on 2 new platinum grade Mullards. Sounds great through my recently purchased Prima Luna Evo 300 pre/power amps. The old Thorens TD160 never sounded so good played through the Tannoys. I was a little reluctant after reading one of the posts about this same tube in the same amp. However, glad I purchased them.

I agree with one of the users below who wasn't impressed with this tube. Pros: nice low end, sweet highs. Cons: lacking dynamics, imaging, soundstage, and most other qualities you'd expect from a tube. What this did do my setup was make it sound similar to the old school NAD (which if you like tone, this is the tube for you). However, this is just in my system (the tubes were in a Project phono box DS). Upscale was great on their part and I'll definitely buy other tubes from them in the future.

I bought these to balance the mid-range air of NOS 12AU7 Brimar's and to get a rounder, richer bass in my amp. After reading up on these, I went ahead and ordered the platinum-matched pair from UA. I am blown away listening to the Mullard 12AX7 + NOS Brimar 12AU7 match-up. Simply, it is the very best musical experience I have ever had...and I am not a very young guy. Everything from pop & rock to jazz and classical, the combo above has proven to be the magic bullet for my setup (Marantz pre-amp, Yaqin MC13-S, Cornscala speakers). Even if you're NOT on a budget, these are freak'in awesome sounding tubes. I STRONGLY encourage you to buy these instead of NOS, where the prices are starting to get a little unobtainable for most of us. Great tubes...just buy 'em! You'll be glad you did.

I just received my Jolida 502A back from the factor for upgrades. My tubes consist of Tung Sol KT150, Mullard CV404 and I had the Tung Sol 12AX7. I replaced the Tung Sols 12AX7 with the Mullard reissues and like Kevin stated the Mullard reissues are a bit smoother. Inexpensive alternative to the NOS Mullards that I once had.
