I did a lot of research before deciding on the Parasound NewClassic 200 integrated amplifier for my particular set of speakers (Ohm Walsh 1000 and Ohm SB 12 subwoofer) and listening room situation. The subwoofer management capabilities are a big plus for me, as well as the solid Class D amplification. Overall I am very pleased with the unit's performance and it matches very well with the sound qualities of the Ohm speakers. I run all my music from a Dell Optiplex 7080 computer using a 4 terabyte solid state drive and JRiver media software. The Parasound works well with this setup and I have found that the DAC is fine for most of what I need it for, though I also have a Cambridge DACMagic 200 hooked up as well, which seems to me to perform better with complex orchestral textures (eg., Edgard Varèse, Olivier Messiaen). One caveat. I had read about some people having a problem with a loud "pop" or "thump" from the speakers when turning off the power, and this unit does that as well. It is not a bother for me because my situation is such that I leave the amplifier on all the time, which is why I wanted a cool-running Class D. But, for some others, this might be a problem. However, for my combination of requirements and the absolutely solid sound and build for the price of the Parasound it was an easy choice to make and I am happy I made it.
