PrimaLuna EVO 300 Tube Integrated Amp Silver The tonal richness of the midtones is perfect for Jazz, especially horns, great bass response too. I've bought a lot of hand made tube and expensive brand amps and PrimaLuna beats them all IMO from the numerous A/B listening tests I've done. I'm also a big headphones guy, I'm not exaggerating when I say this amp has the best headphone amp I've ever heard, after buying this and the Evo 100 Integrated as I have two setups. I sold my other two headphones amps, one of them being a big brand dedicated headphone amp retailing at $4k, the Evo blew it out of the water, no contest. IMO from all the features it offers, PrimaLuna represents the definitive modern tube amp.

What can I say that hasn’t been said. It’s a fantastic integrated. Paired with a Manley Chinook it’s tubes everywhere. I’m surprised by the sound. This does not have to be cranked up to be great. Honestly my dial rarely goes past the 9 o’clock point. A little bit goes a long way with this. I am certain this is my forever amp.

I upgraded from a Primaluna EVO 100 integrated (my first foray into tubes), which showed me that tubes are not burdensome to live with, and it’s soundstaging and handling of the bass, midrange and treble, was more enjoyable than my (high quality) solid state setups previously. It’s all part of a chain of equipment though, and once I upgraded to the 300 (I thought the 400 would be too many tubes to live with/roll) I found it was loads more revealing and resolving (read finds weaknesses elsewhere)! It drives my focal 936’s with ease (as did the 100). It shows me differences more easily with any equipment and accessory tweaks. Alas, everything matters! I upgraded my DAC, and Phono pre-amp as well, and added much more isolation to all my components (voodoo cable iso-pods, Stillpoints ultra minis, symposium acoustics segue for my TT). Big difference using Stillpoints ultra minis under my EVO300 (more refinement, blacker & more quiet backgrounds, more balanced sound, and now I can crank it up when I want more impact without harshness creeping in, in my treated room). It showed more subtle improvement with a power chord (tried many but settled on shunyata delta v2 - more refined sound, slightly less overall hiss close up to the speaker). Rolled GE NOS 12AU7’s for the 2 gain tubes (not much difference trying more of these in the driver tubes). In my system an Audience AR6-TS power conditioner makes all the difference with dynamics and soundstage dimensionality with all my equipment plugged into it. Enough rambling, I think the EV0 300 is my end game amp - and great enough to build an entire system around. Nowadays, when I get the urge to upgrade after reading a gushing review, I go back and read reviews of my current equipment - hey what do you know - equally gushing reviews, and often a nugget of wisdom to be found in it about setup and use to squeeze the best out of it. Also, it’s never about a single piece of equipment, but about an entire system and finding synergy within that combination. Happy listening!

Driving a pair of Klipshorns with this amp. Out of the box, the PrimaLuna EVO 300 was a bit harsh (if that's the right word), but after a few hours running in, it sounded very nice. After maybe 100 hours, I swapped the tubes to RCA cleartop 12AU7 and Winged C EL34's; now this amp really sings. It has great detail and a clean sound. FWIW, I listen to a lot of (50's) jazz, blues, some rock...the occasional classical album. I cannot turn the volume up past 1/3 and stay in the same room as the speakers. Being able to switch between triode and ultralinear is nice- it is a different enough sound to support jazz vs rock. I 'upgraded' from a PrimaLuna Dialog 2 and this one does sound more musical to me. Is it 10X better? No, but is better, and has some additional features (headphone/sub out) that I appreciate for the future, even if I am not using them now. The EVO 300 is family friendly- remember the old days of telling your kid 'hey kid, adjust the volume', or 'hey kid, change to input 2'. Well, no more of that with the remote! Convenience whether you have a 'hey kid' or not. The phono stage just works. It is simple, no switches, no wires, it doesn't get in the way and that is the best compliment I could give it. As I mentioned- I had previously owned a PL Dialog 2. In ten years, that amp never hissed, popped, showed any signs of dust in the controls or burned out a tube. It was as reliable as gravity. I expect this one to be as reliable. It is nice to have a remote and a well-built one at that. The remote is a machined case, so it is heavy! This integrated amp is also seriously hefty- there is a lot of metal in the cabinet. All the controls have a quality, precision feel. I'm completely satisfied- this integrated does everything I could ask and does it well. It is fairly priced, and the folks at Upscale Audio deserve a big thumb's up for their excellent knowledge, communication and service. This is the second PL that I have bought from them and it is nice to work with skilled professionals.

I watched so many of Kevin's Video's about PrimaLuna. They're built really well and I use it 12 hours a day, minimum. I have this hooked up to our TV, Through our Marantz AVR so we use it for TV, Movies and Music. We have One Main Sound System and it's in the Living Room. Since PrimaLuna drives Tubes Easy, As Kevin said, It is made to Work without burning out your tubes. I do of course have an Extra set of tubes in case one Goes South. That seems to be good rule with a Tube Amp, Like a Car, Have A Spare. This is a Great Sounding Amp. Open, Clean and a lot of Bandwith. I play Very Large Speakers through my Evo 300 Integrated. They are Tekton Pendragons with the 7 Mid/Tweeter array and each speaker has 2-10" Low Frequency Eminence Professional Drivers. I have Zero problems playing my music or anything to levels that are loud enough for us. Funny, I had a Friend drop by and he saw the PL on the rack and asked what it was. I told him it was a Tube Amp and he said he'd Never Seen One Before. Everyone in the house Loves the sound and I'm The Hero for Buying it even though they're Not Cheap. But Hey, I'm in Charge of Entertainment Equipment. I'm The Big Boss. Thanks for reading. PL does make a Very High Quality Product. If you buy one, build up Yur Mussles because this Amp is Damn Heavy. It weighed more than my Klipsch Rf82 II's and it almost weigh's as much as my Pendragons. Thanks Kevin and Josh. Josh helped me with my purchase. I'm done Rambling, For now.
