I am now coming back after several more months of seeing what this amp is capable of and am even more convinced that I made the correct and last purchase of an integrated amp that doe absolutely everything it says it will do. DEAD QUIET BLACK BACKGROUND PALETTE on which a full three dimensional liquid and engaging soundstage is painted on. No fuss and no muss with the tubes. EL 34s are sooo musical with the best midrange for acoustic jazz. I was blown away by Herbie Hancock’s “River” LP and Tina Turner doing “Edith and The Kingpin”. The room was enveloped in sound. I can’t imagine why anyone would want any other integrated amp. EVER! I have a friend that swears by his Don Sachs KT88 amp but when tried in 2 different systems it had transformer buzz which apparently can’t be eliminated or fixed. UNACCEPTABLE. Not so with Prima Luna. I am smitten beyond belief I must say. Finally, thanks for the dual subwoofer outputs. I only wish there was a balance control because of my 69 year old left ear.

This integrated amplifier was an enormous upgrade from my previous Yamaha A-S2200 Integrated Amp, which is no slouch! Upon my first listen, my living room seemingly expanded in size with a tall, wide, and deep, three dimensional soundstage. I was blown away at what a difference this amp made to my system. I’m driving a pair of Klipsch Forte IVs with a stereo pair of REL Acoustic S812 Subwoofers. I also added the PrimaLuna Evo 100 DAC. This is an amazing pairing that brought my music listening experience to life in the most amazing way that I never imagined! If you’re considering PrimaLuna as your next integrated, pre amp, and or power amps… I highly recommend doing it! The Evo 400 integrated has so much power, it’s breathtaking; loud or soft, the music sounds unlike anything I’ve experienced before now. Sean was my Salesperson, but I consider him my Audiophile Sherpa, guiding me through my journey with his honest recommendation, never attempting to up-sell me or heap on extra gear I truly don’t need. He conducts himself with integrity, which built enormous trust with me. Overall, I am thrilled with my purchase, my shopping experience with Sean and Upscale Audio, and my musical experience now in the comfort of my home with a stratospheric level of satisfaction!!!

I purchased the EVO400 to replace my EVO300 integrated. I loved the 300, no complaints, but due to a recent new speaker purchase of Sonus Faber Sonetto VIII I felt the speakers would benefit from the extra power. Don't get me wrong, the 300 drove the Sonetto's just fine with no problem. What I gained moving to the 400 was a fuller bodied sound, greater control and ease at both moderate and louder volumes. Dynamic just flow with greater ease and deeper extension, as if the dynamics reach further into the room. Bass response is bigger and deeper as if the addition of a sub was made. With the 300 I had to hit a certain volume for it to really open up, the 400 opens up with ease even at lower volume. For me, it was worth the extra.

I ended up getting the Evo 400 preamp. It is simply amazing!!!! I am hearing so much more of the music. It is so quiet the instruments sound so real , more details in and around each instrument . You hear music not the CD or source distortion. The preamp compares to the range of $ 12,000 gear!!!

I can spot them a mile away !! I have had the fortune of dealing with them most of my life. These relics from a bygone era , passionate individuals who take their businesses seriously and posses a wealth of wisdom not seen anymore with the younger business owners of the current generations. Those of us lucky to endeavor in hi-fi audio and it’s products should protect and appreciate these dinosaurs, once they are gone we can only hope they did enough to pass it down to the survivors, that is, if they can manage to survive these pandemic riddled times. My experience with Kevin Deal and Upscale Audio is like many shared in the different media outlets. I’ve been watching their videos and bought tubes occasionally over the years. After watching one of his latest video reviews of an excellent integrated tube amp, I reached out with my specs and asked him for an opinion on how the amp would match with the rest of my setup. He quickly pointed out that I had a decent solid state setup and I told him I built it from his reviews and past opinions, but had acquired it used and new from different sources not from upscale audio, he was not pleased about this, rude? perhaps, best customer service attitude? probably not , but he was right in pointing this out as a “problem “. Over a period of three weeks after our conversation, he matched the aforementioned amp with the same speakers I have in his studio, he also went up the line and tried different more expensive amps from the same company and compared them with a much cheaper PrimaLuna Evo 400, added Kat to the evaluation and provided his and her opinion on how they would sound with my setup. He left the decision up to me even though I clearly was leaning to the more expensive amp, (10k more!!). I purchased the Evo 400 , still being broken in and I am floored by the sound from this little giant!! Unreal !! ..and it’s only going to get better, WOW! There’s a few negative reviews about Kevin and his personality, as I pointed out, he is from a different era but his commitment to his passion is impeccable, complaining about him is like complaining that TRex had to go because it was too heavy and loud, check your ego at the door , appreciate that there’s less and less of them out there, truly listen to what his giving you and more importantly, support and buy from his business, pray that he is passing his craft down and hope Upscale Audio is around to service our endless efforts to achieve the impossible, bring the live performance home to our subjective ears...I know I will buy from his business without hesitation..and thank you Sir, many years of health to you .
