Prima Luna's EVO400 preamp performance is way beyond any hifi unit(s) I've owned. The performance per dollar is spot on. Cutting my tesponse; gotta get back to listening to this wonderful preamp!

Coming from Musical Fidelity separates to the PL EVO 400 separates has been an easy upgrade. The Musical Fidelity components are awesome but they are very clinical in there sound. The tubes in the PL components add a depth and warmth that was lacking in my solid state set up. The balanced inputs are a big plus for me, as I started with the PL EVO 400 Integrated Amp and upsold myself after using it only two weeks. The move up to the PL EVO 400 pre amp and amp was an easy one. The factory tubes are great for me so far as I like the warmth in the mid range and don't need anything more aggressive. Buy it without reservation. You will be pleased. My wife loves the look of tubes which is also a huge plus.

What an upgrade. I'm blown away by the difference this preamp made in terms of soundstaging, tonal richness and overall musical enjoyment! The stock tubes are wonderful and maybe i'll try tube rolling in the future but right now i'm re-enjoying all my records and CD's all over again. Highly recommended.

Upgraded my Evo300 integrated to Evo400 pre and Evo300 power. Using the balanced inputs and outputs on the preamp. Broke them in for 50 hours before listening. The separates provide better clarity and separation than the integrated, no question about it, and now a few hundred hours of listening later the pair is sounding really sweet. Especially after a warm-up of 4+ hours. Also tried the preamp with the integrated as a power amp and can say that the majority of the upgrade in the sound of the separates vs the integrated seems to be from the preamp. and if truth be told, who doesn't like to look at all those tubes?
