“I'm like the rest of you guys thinking about adding this accessory to your system. I'm a huge vinyl collector. However, a lot of new reissued LPs I've been receiving over the past few years have had warped edges. I was getting tired of returning them. To be honest, I bought this ring primarily to help with that issue. Not only did the ring clamp help tremendously, I also noticed improved sound quailty. The ring clamp helps to keep the LP firmly planted on the platter which appears to help the cartridge to pick up more detail from the grooves. I noticed a bit tighter bass response and focus. Also, the mids seem a bit more focused as well. My ring arrived warped and had to be returned. Upscale and VPI took care of matters very quickly like the pros they are. I understand that a tight tolerance needs to be maintained when machining. However, I personally think asking $1300 is robbery. Just saying. “The ring definitely improves the sound, specifically the base. From how good it is made perspective there are a couple of issues. There are some felt pieces on the inside of the ring help center the ring that are already coming off. The two rubber bands around the outside of the ring are very easy to come off which seems dumb considering the cost of it.”

“Recently purchased the VPI Periphery Ring from Upscale at a great price and fast shipment - thanks! Using the Ring on my new VPI Signature 21 and have really been impressed with the sound quality improvement for my pretty warped records. As stated in an earlier review...bass articulation, soundstage depth, and sense of space have been improved. I've also been using it on all my non-warped albums (very few, if any, are truly "flat"). Beautifully machined. Not too difficult to situate. I use it with the VPI HRX Centerweight and looks incredible with my Rosewood plinth (bling). Only negative is the bumper rings tend to roll off pretty easily...I stuck small pieces of Scotch tape every 90-deg, which has seemingly solved the issue. (Let me know if someone has a more elegant solution..other than just removing them.) Overall very well worth it to me in my system.”
