“My Mod Wright Oppo 83 which was made obsolete by the production of newer models gain new life when I became aware of this cryo-treated Phillips 5R4GY. What a great vacuum tube!. This tube replaced the original Russian Sovtek 5AR4. in the power supply and all the terms which those audiophile guys use became apparent (more air, larger sound-stage, more detail and dynamics etc.) I just love what I am hearing and I am now listening to all my CD's once more”

“I bought a pair of these to replace the Mullards in my Laurel II 300b monoblocks, and the result was not subtle. All of the accolades in the other reviews are absolutely true. More detail, more high and low extension, greater dynamics. I couldn't be more pleased. A no-brainer of a purchase. Buy them.”

“Replaced a 1970's viintage RCA 5R4GY. Warmer mids and much tighter at low frequencies. Big imaging improvement as well. Makes my Russian tubes sing!”

“This review is for three cryo-treated Philips 5R4GYS (JAN Made in Holland) rectifier tubes. I usually donâ€:tm:t review items I have bought but this tube enabled a significant change to my Living Room/Den system. I put one in a Dared MC-7P preamp (replacing a 6U4G) and the noise floor was reduced to a now quiet background; the music is able to reveal tonal quality I have not heard in this unit before. I am very happy with the tubes and have no reservation in recommending them to others.”

“Based on the recommendations I've installed these (Dutch, Philips) rectifiers in my PrimaLuna 3 by importing them from Upscale, cryogeniccally treated. Please note these tubes are not avail in the Netherlands, sic....Initial experience now after Â± 100 hours is wider and deeper stage, warmer, less forward highs than original PL rectifier tubes, more articulate lows. Note I have hard time to distinguish effect as at same time I've installed Tung-Sol KT120's on my PrimaLuna 5 to get more juice for my ProAc Response 2.5S's. Excellent communication with Upscale customer service, excellent wrapping, took 2 weeks to arrive, but that is more due to sucking Dutch customs, that also rip you off by an additional cost for 30% (VAT, handling etc). Nevertheless I'm very happy with both upgrades, PL3&5 set ready for next years! Thanks Kevin and team!!”

“This is surely one of the best rectifiers you can buy. Very detailed, fluid, with lots of air and much coherency between the instruments. Voices are very much alive, and in front of you in your room. Sound image has a lot of depth and width. Silky smooth, yet detailed, loose but tight. Highly recommended. I replaced the stock tube in my MystÃ¨re CA-11 pre-amp and cold out of the box they were very promising already. Now they have about 300 hours and are really top notch. A no brainer, just buy.”
