Best speakers I’ve ever owned. Do everything well for me. Probably my last set of speakers I will ever own.

Love these Speakers. At 56 with kidney disease, they will most likely be my last pair of speakers. But I’m thrilled to own them. I go back and forth between Tube amps and solid state. Love them with both. Easy to drive and beautiful craftsmanship. Not too heavy like my last pair so they are easy to move around. In my opinion, in a medium sized room, sub not needed.

I am not an easy person to please, especially when it comes to this hobby. I cannot believe after all these years I am finally beyond satisfied. Thanks to Pete, Kevin and Tannoy.

Purchased the Sterlings after Kevin asked me what I wanted to achieve sound wise. I told him the sound I heard back in 70's when I purchased my first stereo system that came to whopping $500 for amplifier turntable and speakers. The names of the amp turntable elude me, but I remember the speakers were Cerwin Vega. Made in the USA. Burglars made off with everything including the TV and many irreplaceable items like the watch I inherited from my dad. The Tannoy's have exceeded my expectations sound and looks wise. Beautiful woodwork and glorious sound. My Amp is a Luxman L-507uX mark ii. Marantz turntable, made by Clearaudio with Luxman phono pre. Audio-lab CD transport, excellent value, and Cambridge Dacmagic 100. All sitting in my dedicated listening/ home theatre room.

I've had mine just short of a year, now, so this isn't a honeymoon-phase review. I *really* like these speakers. Those concentric drivers do some wonderful things. Maybe it's the low crossover point, I dunno, but they do *something* extremely right. Voices (solo or massed), acoustic instruments, Hammonds, archtops, anything with that sort of rich, organic tone really sings through these. If most of your listening is metal or really heavy prog, they'll do that just fine, but they may not do it the way your ears would prefer. They're not going to reach out and grab you violently. They can absolutely startle you witless, but they aren't going to stove your chest in. And once you get them dialed in, they soundstage like a sonofabitch. My only complaint is the tweeter axis is too low, and the feet don't have enough adjustability to give them the necessary rake angle. I'm improvising for now by propping the fronts on acoustically inert, high-density differential-constrained-layer paper pulp plinths -- i.e., hardcover books.
