There are not enough reviews of these speakers online so I'll throw this out there for the curious. I bought these from Kevin over a year ago after much hemming and hawing and gnashing of teeth. I did the usual obsessive research and hand-wringing and finally took a bet on Kevin's advice (and amusing salesmanship). Simply put, they are sublime. To hear Chet Baker sing through Tannoys is to time travel to the studio where the album was made and sit right next to the sound engineer on the recording. The duel-concentric drivers bring vocals and lead instruments, whether a guitar or a trumpet, directly into the room. I host a lot of listening sessions and people are awed by the vivid realism of the sound stage. A British friend made fun of me for buying these initially, calling them "pipe-and-slippers" speakers for their retro aesthetics. When he finally saw and heard them, however, he was duly silenced. He immediately wanted to bring over his Naim amp to see how they sounded. After some experimentation, I found that a tube phono pre and a solid state amp were a winning combination. Solid state for the power and tubes to soften up the detailed highs these speakers can produce. I love that you can adjust the tweeter to raise or lower the dBs and find your own sweet spot. I would describe the bottom end as erring on the side of accuracy and warmth over chest thumping, but I prefer this (I'm biased toward jazz and 60s and 70s R&B). What strikes you again and again is the breathtaking coherency and that lush wind-through-the-leaves clarity of great recordings. Listen, these are expensive speakers, but they're a longterm investment in an peak experience. It's an experience of music at its most intimate and profound. I rarely let a day go by without listening to records through my Tannoys because it's a reliably fantastic pleasure. Highly recommended.

Back in 2007 I bought a great pair of speakers & tube amp from Kevin and wanted an upgrade and he suggested Stirling GR's over another speaker I was looking at. Once again he knocked it out of the park - he knew what would be perfect for my setup and I am grateful for the no bullshit advice and great deal he gave me for this major upgrade.
