My pursuit in searching incredible ends here with Tannoy Turnberry GRs. These speakers are not only looking great, but excels in re-creating emotions. There's definitely waiting period (about 70-80 hours minimum) before they can sing the way they meant to be! I am grateful to Upscale audio and their wonderful staff who helped with my purchase for all the components needed to complete this setup. CD Player - 1: Synthesis Roma 14 DC+ tube CD Player - 2: McIntosh MCD85 Turntable: U-turn Orbit special edition with 2M Blue Integrated Amp: PrimaLuna EVO 400 YouTube Links for my setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YYEIWsFjzU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY-TIctVvQE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyGTrYG9UaQ Next... Acoustic correction/treatment seems like a science in art. I am still in search for ideas on how to setup and arrange my listening space to the best :)

Hi Chintan, Thanks so much for your review, and it's always great to see the final setup--it looks excellent! If you listen to a lot of Indian film music, focus on taming the high-frequency reflections in your room as many of these recordings can be sibilant. Give us a call and we'll help!

I purchased the Tannoy Turnberry speakers as “endgame” speakers, after having owned entry-level Tannoys (XT-8F Revolution) and a pair of custom-built Tekton Enzo-XLs. I liked both of those speakers and found the Tektons to be a step-up from the Tannoy XT-8F, but ultimately, I wanted more of the Tannoy sound in a higher-end build, which is what I got with the Turnberrys. After 80+ hours of listening, I’m happy to report that these may indeed be my endgame speakers. I found my experience with break-in to be very similar to the reviewer below, Sandamal Silva. So similar, in fact, I recommend reading his review for a summary of what happens during break-in, rather than redundantly rewriting it here. My listening space is a medium/small living room (12’ x 19’) that has limitations regarding speaker placement, but even without total freedom of placement, I found the speakers to be somewhat easy to configure. I have them about 20-inches from the back wall and 20-inches from the sides. Not ideal, but the speakers still seem to perform well. I have them slightly toed-in, but not to the degree that Tannoy recommends. After about 30 hours of break-in, I decided that they were a bit bright in my space, so I lowered the treble energy on each speaker by 1.5 db. The ability to make treble adjustments is an amazing feature! After about 70 hours of listening and getting used to the sound, I integrated my REL T9i subwoofer. I don’t think the Turnberrys necessarily need a sub, but I do find the low-end to be a bit more solid and effortless with the REL helping out below 40 hz. I’m using a Primaluna Dialogue HP integrated amp with Gold Lion KT77 output tubes. This seems like a good pairing. Interestingly, with my other speakers I kept the amp in ultra linear mode 90% of the time (depending on the recording), but with the Turnberrys the opposite is true and I’m in triode mode most of the time. I mostly listen to analog through an EAT C-Sharp turntable and Manley Chinook phono preamp, but about 20% of my listening is digital through a Jay’s Audio CDT and Denafrips Pontus DAC. Both sources sound great through the Turnberrys. As always, thanks to Kat for walking me through this decision and purchase. I always feel confident that my best interests are important to Upscale and that they would never sell me something that didn’t seem appropriate for my system or tastes. Highly recommended speakers! They have the sparkle and nuance in the mids and highs I’ve been looking for and they look amazing too.

I'm coming from Salk Songtowers which sounded great with the EVO 400. When I first put the Tannoy Turnberry GRs in my system, I knew there would be some break-in time from all the threads I had read. But honestly, that will not prepare you for what you will hear. After 15 hours they seemed almost worse than when first played. I now understand why some people prefer NOT to listen to them during the break-in period. 24 hours in and most of the shoutiness in the upper midrange was gone but much more was needed to better my Songtowers. 36 hours in and I was getting some good soundstaging and a relaxed expression of the bass. The shoutiness was smoother...it was now a better sounding speaker than the Songtowers. 48 hours in and the bass was effortless and the shoutiness was almost gone with a nice big soundstage. I'm probably at 72+ hours now and no longer need to count hours. Sonic presentation is big (room is 13.5' x 19' x 8'). Textures, timbre and detail is all there. I would say that the EVO 400 and Turnberrys are almost made for each other. Where the Salks would make every track sound good. The Tannoy will reproduce the best recording with much more dynamic presentation, but will penalize bad recordings. But I wouldn't have it any other way. Also, low level listening is pretty stellar. I love this about these speakers. Gear: Evo 400 Power amp, Don Sachs Model 2 preamp, Technics 1200G turntable, AT740ML cartridge, Project Phono Box RS (outboard power supply), Audiolab 8200CD CD player, AudioQuest type 4 speaker cables, AudioQuest Jupiter bi-wire jumpers

Great speakers! Very detailed and live sounding. Moved on from Klipsch Cornwall 4 (which I really enjoyed), but the Tannoy Turnberry's are superior in soundstage and imaging with that same type of live sound (minus the horn) in your living room. Matched up with Kevin and Kat's suggested Naim Uniti Atom, great pairing for music streaming and for 2 channel Movie watching. Kat and Kevin were great and really took care of my audio needs!

I purchase my Tannoy Turnberry GR speakers about 3 months ago. This is my first experience with Tannoy and I could not be more pleased. I have not owned too many brands ADS (810 and 980 monitors) plus Klipsch RF-7 III. I was looking for a warm neutral speaker and these are everything I hoped for. They are paired with a PrimaLuna EVO 400 preamp and dual EVO 400 power amps, plus 2 REL S/5 subs. This is a great combination. I actually prefer the amps in triode vs ultra linear. These speakers have plenty of highs and lows in triode. The mid range is probably their strongest region though. I have zero listening fatigue have hours of listening to this setup. In ultra linear some recording are just too forward and not natural for me. I don't think you can go wrong with Tannoy. I'm sold for life.
