Standard Black Utility Kilt Ripstop
The ripstop is a lightweight, extremely durable fabric that is used in a variety of very demanding situations.
The UTKilts Standard Utility kilt has become the standard that all others try to follow.  Although it is our lowest priced utility kilt, it has the same durable and long lasting constructions as any of our more expensive kilts.  Two cargo pockets on each side will fit the common items a guy wants to carry these days.  Pleats are also sewn down to make sure you always get that perfect look, no matter the activity.  It also has two sets of snaps to make sure you have a solid, comfortable fit.  Don't let anyone tell you that GREAT quality can't come with a LOW price on a utility kilt.  The UTKilts Standard Utility Kilt gives you amazing quality, low price, and a fabulous look.  You won't find anything like this anywhere else!
Features Include:

2 snap closures (one on the inside)
2 extra snap closures to allow 1 inch expansion in the waist
2 large cargo pockets on each side
Durable, light weight Ripstop material

Sizing / Measuring
It is extremely important you follow our measuring video and order the size you need based on your measurement, not pants size. All of men's pants are labeled 2-4 inches smaller than what they actually measure. Please see our measuring video below or checkout or measuring page here.
If you measure an even size like 38 or 40, then order that exact size.  If you fall in between sizes we typically recommend ordering up in size for a loose, but comfortable fit.  However, each size has an extra set of snaps to go up one inch in waist size.  If you prefer a snug fit then you can order down if measure an odd size (example: 37 can go up to a 38 for a loose, comfortable fit or down to a 36 for  snug fit)
Custom waist sizes, lengths, or colors

Need a waist size or length not listed here?  Looking for a different color? Checkout our special order listing here that will allow you to customize the kilt to your exact waist and length (only recommended if our in stock sizes won't work).  We also have many other colors listed there that we can custom order to your specific size.

I like the black rip-stop. Very durable, very light weight. Makes it very nice and free while running up and down the paintball field.

we all have a hiking story some victorious and some just a painful regret. This hike was a bit of both. September 9 was my date to free my self of all work repressed memories. I was vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains while a hurricane was brewing towards the coast no worries we had plenty of time to be back and hunker down the Fort back home or vacate if necessary. The night before I do a last minute prep of all my food, gear, map, ect. My mother in law advised me not to take my wallet just extra weight I didn't need to tote. Great idea! I thought. I filled my water bottles and off to sleep I went. the next morning we drove to the trail head near Fontana dam I say my good byes and love you's my wife looked so worried but she understood I needed to do this. Was a little worried about wearing a kilt I heard stories about how great it felt and how fast one can hike on trail. then it happened as I was up this f@#cking mountain I realized I was thirsty but no water bottles! so I hike back down the mountain to the visitor center to grab two bottles of water as I walk to the counter with my purchase I realized NO WALLET! Yeah that was the start of my day. I was able to call my wife and told her of my situation she understood and begins to drive all the way around the smokies back to me. Now hold that thought. as I waited for her there was a biker rally somewhere near and a huge biker club stopped by. A few asked me where I started and then the humiliation set in. BUT they loved the fact I was in a kilt ! After about three hours of waiting my wife pulled up she's almost in tears because the fastest way to reach me was to follow the GPS map "Tail of the dragon!" with all its turns and twists. this is no vacation! it has turned into an awkward adventure but hey I was in a kilt and life was pretty good! After spending three days in Gatlinburg touristing and watching the news about this hurricane coming and how devastating it was going to be we thought about going back home. But then somehow Hurricane Florence decides to turn! that was my chance my only chance to hike the Appalachian Trail for a few hours at least and I took it I put the kilt back on dumped 10 LBS of the pack and drove up to Clingmans dome and hike to newfound gap 7 miles of pure pain! up and down I went the pain in my legs were so excruciating I just wanted to jump off the mountain, but no I was determined as a stubborn old goat. after seven hrs I made it. I couldn't walk for 2 days but I felt accomplished and all was good down there no rash no nothing. I'm taking my kilt with me on our march vacation to Pennsylvania and yes the Appalachian trail runs threw it.always take cash with you and never listen to your mother in law, Bikers are cool and hurricanes suck! My AT story...

Terrain Race approved! I ran the Terrain Race in Englishtown, NJ over the weekend and purchased this Kilt for the race as well as a Tough Mudder in October. It was worth every penny! It was super comfortable, light, and I had better mobility than with normal shorts. I wasn't sure how it would hold up to all the mud and obstacles but it came through unscathed and came completely clean in the wash! I highly recommend this product!

Climbing harness wasn't designed for kilts. A few extra folds and we're on.

My reciprocity club (the oldest in the city) has an annual black tie option event. I have been wearing kilts for a number of years. This year we I wore the Black Ripstop nylon and added a Robert Graham shirt and skipped the tie and tux jacket for a unique fun look.
