“I usually don’t make time to review but in this case, the Velocirax (engineers, marketing, logistics and all) deserve a well earned pat on the back. This rack was delivered promptly with excellent instructions and a complete set of parts. The quality is good. Any better and it would be too heavy, which might be the biggest complaint. The design is fantastic as my 110lb wife and teenage kids load their own bikes with ease. And the cherry on top is the garage wall mount that not only stores the rack but all the bikes too. Well done folks, well done”

“Read up on every rack out there before buying this one. We mounted it on the back of our 30' Motorhome. This situation voids the warranty on most racks except VelociRax. Put 7000kms on the trip around BC and Alberta this year and no issues. Rack worked so good. No rubbing, easy load and unload and unlike the Thule rack I had on last trip this one didn't break. Rack is mounted in the garage now and still has the bikes on it. A great piece of engineering, plus it looks great.”

“I bought the 5X rack as I wanted more space between the bikes when carrying 5 bikes. The 5X works perfectly keeping the bikes apart when 5 bikes are on the rack. As I am tall I don't bother lowering the rack to load and unload. The hydraulics are a nice touch but a feature rarely used. I would find removing the locking pin every time I wanted to lower the rack and then inserting again would be a bit cumbersome, so if you can load and unload the bikes in the up rack position it saves time. I don't like leaving the rack on full-time, so I take it off after every use, which is weekly. The 5x is heavy so taking on and off is a 2-person job, but it's not too onerous and my wife and I have the process down very efficiently. While diving the rack and bikes are quite stable and move only slightly when going over bumps. For the most part, I am happy with the stability of the bikes on the rack. The tightening bolt is a nice feature keeping the rack and hitch fit very secure. I do have some pro zeal bike bags, that do not work well with the design of this rack as the zeal bag does not have slits to fit the rack properly. As a result, I can't use the zeal bag zippers fully so the bag does flap a bit on the highway. This is a design issue with Zeal, not Velocirax, but just thought other zeal bag owners may want to know. I don't always need to carry 5 bikes, but It sure is nice to have the option of carrying 1-5 bikes if needed. I use my locks to lock the bikes to the rack which is locked to the car, so security works well if you have good locks. I get lots of questions in parking lots and gas stations. There is no shortage of interest in this rack! Steve”

Thank you for your thorough review. We are so happy to hear your VelociRAX 5X has been a hit! The lever on the center post is used to lower the rack into the load position, which is when the dampers come in handy. The rack will catch on its own, so there is no need to rearrange pins.
