“Awesome Rack Dolly!!!
I believe as of January 2024, there were 2 mobile rack stand (Dollies) on the market. Alta Racks had their for years ($349.99). I had reservations, on the Alta racks because of the angle of insertion of the bikes. It basically wasnt ergonomic enough for me, but the design was stout. I went with Velocirax because, it was $100 cheaper, while still being ergonomic. Because of the moment loads and weight distributions, you bikes can be stored vertically, this allows the user to actuate the lever to draw out the bikes. the videos on youtube speak for itself. I purchase the security cable inconjunction, because if someone does break into my garage, they can't get to my bikes that easily. The choice of caster they specced is a good choice, dense enough to withstand the load, but still rolls smooth.
Now why would you use this rack + dolly combo versus a wall mounted design? I have a row of Omniwall panels on my wall with tools, I also didn't trust my walls enough to bare the load of the bikes and racks because I am in a high humidity state. a "Floating Rack" allows the user to place their bike collection anywhere in there garage.
A side note: just because the metal is bare doesn't mean its not corrosive resistent. A6061, A5052, and SS300 series have natural Oxide layers. This means, they really dont need paint jobs. Just incase, people were worried.
