This is a fun product, but don't expect it to have the same results as a regular chalkboard. For example, in order to erase, a slightly damp cloth works best, and even then you may need to turn the cloth over to the clean side and wipe again. Similar products have the same issues so that isn't a big deal. As an impromptu message center, a square of this is perfect. There are cutting guide lines on the reverse side of the paper to make it easier. Heavier than paper, it's a thin vinyl.

Incredibly cool product!! This has so many uses I can even begin to imagine all the possibilities. I immediately put a calendar up in my kitchen made out of this. Wash it every month and no more calendars to throw away. I also homeschool 6 children and was able to make individual black boards for them to use to do work on without waste and the staining of white boards. There is zero dust and easy clean up too. It sticks easily and bubbles didn't happen to me once. I'll be ordering more!

Wanted something for pantry door, and this is the only product of its kind I could find that would accommodate the length (without having seams visible). Received it...tried the liquid marker it came with as well as regular chalk. Both wrote smoothly. Won't wipe off dry, used a minimally damp paper towel and worked very well (suggest cloth because paper towel left debris). Awesome that unlike chalkboard paint, this is ready to go, no curing required, inexpensive, and easily replaceable if wears.

I love painting walls, but the idea of painting a wall with chalk paint didn't sound like a good time, especially with an infant in the house. So I opted for an easier option which led me to purchase this contact paper. I have it covering a big portion of the wall (see picture) and it works great for what I am using it for. It was also very easy to apply, although I do have a lot of experience laying stickers on large flat surfaces. Just make sure to follow the instructions (work from the middle out to get rid of air pockets). I will be buying this again in the future for all my chalk board needs.

My roommates have also used contact paper for crafting & I have always wanted to buy some for my own projects. Then I stumbled into contact paper that DOUBLES at chalkboard!!! It works really well, and I have been able to make a makeshift calendar for my desk area -- and I can't wait to figure out ways to use more. It also comes with a lot of paper! The chalk pen it comes with is okay, I might buy some real chalk!

This is a really cool idea. I like that you can use this for lot of different things such as wrapping paper and stickers. I took it out of the package and it smells kind of weird at first. It also comes with a pen that is suppose to show up on the paper but it doesn't show up at all, which kind of was a disappointment. But regular chalk shows up on it. It also has a sticky back to its easy to put on things. I like this stuff and it is really easy to use.

If you're looking for a way to turn a wall into a chalkboard you have two options. You can paint the wall with special chalkboard paint which can be messy and time consuming, or you can use chalkboard Contact paper. The latter is much easier and cost effective. When cutting to your desired length, guides on the inside of the paper help you. I would recommend using a hobby knife to get straighter edges. When I used the scissors I was a little off on my lines. I applied a large length on the wall after peeling off the backing. I had cleaned the area first and the paper stuck very well. The areas with the crease did stick down for the most part - there were a few bubbled areas that I had to work at to stay down. Hopefully it will stay that way. I was able to lift it up and reapply with good sticking power. The included wet erase marker takes a little time and work to get going. The instructions tell you to shake, pump and then draw. So after a little shaking and pumping to prime the tip, I tried to write. Nothing. I pumped a lot more and then it begin to work. You are able to get different thicknesses with the tip. You can easily erase it with a wet paper towel. I also tried regular chalk and sidewalk chalk - both with good results. I then put a piece on my stainless steel fridge to create a message center and it stuck great. Overall, this is a neat product. An easy way to make an area into a chalkboard.

I used this contact paper to cover both sides of a kid's art easel so I can write with chalkboard markers on both sides. One side has a dry erase board and chalkboard markers permanently stained it. The other side has a real chalkboard but I had previously used chalkboard markers on it and now it doesn't come off (I guess it was too porous). Therefore this contact paper is the perfect solution to getting me the surface that would work for chalkboard markers. At first when I first opened the box, I noticed that the piece of tape to hold the roll together left a sticky residue. It'd be a waste to cut that portion of the roll out so I wouldn't accidentally write on it with chalkboard markers, so I used Goo Gone to remove it, no big deal. Next comes cutting. While it is great how there are grid lines on the back to aid in cutting, there are also text in the back and the lines don't run through the text so in some areas you have to eyeball the line to make sure that you're cutting straight. The product cuts great with both sissors and an exacto knife. When applying the contact paper, I like how it's sticky enough to really stay in place. It seems like it'll stick for a long time and not get loose over time like some contact papers. It's repositionable if you make a mistake, but you really have to pull at it while making sure not to stretch it. Best bet is to get it in the desired position the first time around.
