4711 Cologne: At the beginning of the 18th Century, Italian expatriate, Johann Maria Farina, created a new fragrance and named it 4711 Eau de Cologne. To this day, it contains essential oils from citrus fruits, Rosemary and Lavender in a scent that whispers, never clashes.
Small enough to be slipped into a pocket, this 4711 Watch Bottle carries the story - as well as the scent - of 4711 Eau de Cologne. During the 18th Century, the fragrance became increasingly popular, and Cologne merchant, Wilhelm Mulhens, secured the rights to the Farina family name and began manufacturing his own version of the fragrance.
The residence, 4711 Glockengasse, was given to the House of Mulhens during the occupation of Cologne in 1796 and the number 4711 thereafter became the name.
The precise composition of 4711 Eau de Cologne remains a guarded secret, but the principal ingredients include the essence of essential oils from select citrus fruits and small quantities of Rosemary and Lavender. The result is unmistakable scent that instantly revives the wearer while remaining beautifully subtle.

That can't happen when you apply it to your clothing, so never apply fragrance to anything but your skin. That means you shouldn't spray it in a cloud and walk through it, either.
How many times should you put on cologne a day?You should apply this perfume only once a day, preferably in the morning, to the pulsating areas of the skin, at the base of the neck, at the crook of your elbows, wrists and navel.
Where should I spray my cologne to last longer?Aim for Pulse Points. For even longer staying power, spritz your fragrance onto pulse points. These areas include your wrists, the nape of your neck, behind your knees, behind your ear, and inside your elbows.
Do you wear deodorant with cologne?A fragrance-free or light-scented soap, deodorant or body wash is recommended in order to allow your cologne to work with you rather than against you.
