“I run a high school broadcast club and we do around 80 live streams a year, mostly sporting events with multiple camera angels and talent. We have tried them all, OBS, VMIX, Production Truck, etc. Since I bit the bullet and got Wirecast Pro our streams have been flawless. No more weird problems and no more crashing, Wirecast just works every time.
Con... it costs, its not a huge investment, but it is an investment.
Pro... The maintenance agreement is not expensive.
Pro... There is an EDU discount, Con... it is only 10% - It would be nice if Telestream could see the benefit to supply schools with their product at a much deeper discount since all these students will be bringing their experience into the real world, I am sure they would prefer an experienced broadcaster to have Wirecast experience than OBS or something else.
Con... License Locked to a PC
Pro... Allows 2 simultaneous installs, this is great we have multiple streaming kits, they never get used at that same time so it works.
Pro… Easy to clear the license lock from your Telestream Account online.
Pro... I am not giving these kiddos the skill of an industry standard application as they enter the workforce.
Con... It can be complicated. Pro... Once you invest the time to learn the process you reap the rewards!
Since we changed to Wirecast I have never looked back!”
