I use Volumio Primo (hereinafter VP) together with an external DAC - Topping D90 MQA connected via USB. I stream music via Wi-Fi. Since the VP has an internal buffer (the size of which can be adjusted in the settings in the application), the playback has never been interrupted. I control the playback from an application on a mobile phone (Android). The application has a built-in input for Tidal (also for Qobuz and Spotify) that I use. Tidal files in the MQA standard are transferred seamlessly to the DAC. For playback control, I can select up-sampling to 768kHz, 32 bit. The application is intuitive and easy to use. Attention ! The first thing to do after starting VP is to check if there is a new version of the system. If it exists, install it (one click to confirm in the app). Only then will your codes sent by the provider work correctly. The great advantage of the VP is the use of internal power supply stabilization of very good quality. Therefore, your switching power supply does not have to be changed to another one with a price higher than VP ;-)) If you are using Wi-Fi, I advise you to unplug the LAN cable, which may be a source of additional unnecessary interference. The same applies to any additional connections between the VP and the DAC (S/PDIF). The Topping D90 is connected to the Topping A90 headphone / preamplifier. I use the NDH 20 NEUMANN.BERLIN studio headphones for listening. The quality of the music played - at the highest level. The quality simply depends on the recording quality of the music being played. Of course, you can use the built-in VP DAC and connect it directly to the power amplifier/active speakers (volume control in the application). The package also includes a radio, the ability to directly connect a USB drive with music or CD drives to play or rip CDs. Of course, cooperation via LAN with NAS (roon, Samba, DLNA, Logitech protocols). There may be even more sophisticated hardware platforms (e.g. galvanic I / O isolation), but the VP together with the supplied software is a great solution that will definitely work because the same vendor is the developer of the hardware and software. If you want to plunge into the world of music without a professorship in hardware and operating systems and ruin your budget - VP is the perfect solution.

Decided to buy this music streamer after reading Stereophile review 29 Jan 2021. That review is exactly what my experience has been. Another reason it was attractive was that I could afford it. Tried the rca connection and the spdif connection. Both worked well but decided on spdif 24/192 - plenty resolution for me at the volume I listen to. The not so fun part was setup (wireless or ethernet). I had to rely in tech support, but Davide and the others seemed genuinely interested in helping me. Email turnaround was a day or less. They even offer webinars. I was not interested but found the offer reassuring! Remarkably the Primo's capabilities are expandable, through an online community. Customer service is good. I listen to online news (vocals), classical (a Mahler symphony has LOTS of distinct instruments), electronic (Tiesto's BOOM remix requires real bass reproduction) and more. Primo reproduces all these with a sound that is clear, dead silent and frankly very enjoyable! I stream music on Primo almost all day with no fatigue. Streamers out there cost a lot more money, but I did not wish to pay that. I am happy with my Primo sound and with what I paid for the unit. Buy with confidence! Recommended!
