I was given this watch as a father's day gift. The hour is difficult to read unless the ambient lighting is good. In darkness you can't see the watch face. I don't know what trick is used for the photographs here, but it's not how mine looks. Also, mine requires winding twice per day. On the bright side it looks great in the drawer next to the other watches I don't wear.

Limited edition with just 999 pieces per color. I bought this color because of the Superluminova with Tritium Tubes color configuration. When changing hours, at varying lighting and shadows; sometimes tough to read. Overall, simple designs; make it nice to own.

It's very difficult to see numbers in any light. In pictures colours are much brighter. That's why I'm not satisfied with this watch. Can't give more than three stars

This is my 4th Xeric. They have some of the most innovative designs out there. Every time I purchase one I realize the photos are much better than their execution. My primary issue with all Xeric models I have is readability. I select the highest contrast options to improve visibility, but all of my Xerics are more difficult to read than a standard analog watch dial...not because they read differently, but because they just don't have enough contrast. With the Cypher, the minutes are highly visible. Seconds can be read if you need to by getting close. The hour marker is nearly impossible to read without direct and very bright lighting. At night, the tritium markers are also very difficult to discern. There are only two markers (minutes and hours) and are always partially obscured behind the dial as they transition between minutes and hours. The luminous markers are great for about 15-30 minutes, then fade out to non-readable brightness. Xerics don't even compare to the insane luminosity of my Zelos Mako (super luminova) or Seiko Monster (Lumi-Brite) that can be used as flashlights and can be easily read all night. I just received a Spinnaker Cahil yesterday and it's incredibly visible in comparison and can also be read all night. My Marathon (tritium) is brighter than Xeric tritium after 10 years of use which should represent close to a 50% reduction in brightness (12.3 yr half life) I love Xeric designs, but execution on visibility is lacking. Fix that and I'm a major fan.
