I've been keeping an eye out for this watch since it launched. I love G-Shock watches and I've always wanted a watch that had fitness tracking features but didn't care for other options on the market. I saw it in the red colorway and knew that was the one I wanted. It seemed like a unicorn compared to the other colors and the only place I could find it was consignment shops in Japan. Then I stumbled onto watches.com and was shocked to find the watch I wanted in the elusive red colorway. As far as the functionality and usability of the watch are concerned, it's great. I've had it just over a week and my activity level and fitness level have already improved markedly. The app is pretty good and the interface on both the watch and app are very intuitive and easy to navigate. I've only spot-checked the heart rate a couple of times but seems surprisingly accurate. I haven't gone out of my way to check the accuracy of the other sensors but they at least seem ball park from my "seat of pants dyno" testing. Things are pretty good as they are but I hope the watch and app get meaningful updates to further enhance the functionality. One thing I would love to see is adding long button presses to shortcut different actions. One example of this would be the alarms. Now that I'm wearing this as my daily driver I love to use a watch as an alarm and forgo the alarm clock. I would love a long press of a button to dismiss an alarm I have set to snooze. The only way to dismiss an alarm (and have it ready again for the next day) is to go into the alarms and turn it off and back on again. Just a bit of a pain if you use this function every day. I would also love to be able to set alerts if barometric pressure changes by x value in either direction over x time. It's great having all this sensor data on my wrist but if it were more actionable it would be more usable. All in all fantastic watch and I think one of the best values on the market for a fitness type watch. If you're a G-Shock fan and want a fitness tracker and more sensors then you can shake a stick at it's a no-brainer. G-Shocks are maybe a bit chunky and loud for some and if that aesthetic is a non-starter, obviously this watch isn't for you. If you were just going to use it for fitness activity and could get over the G-Shock aesthetic I would say it's worth a look for the non-G-Shock folks as well.
