This is a lovely clean tasting Sav with loads of tropical fruit - especially gooseberry and passionfruit flavours. It smells divine. Our latest bottle we had with a tomato and pesto pasta dish. Normally I'd tend towards a Chardonnay for that sort of dish but this is such a robust Sauvignon that it made a pretty good match. Alternatively, a tasty or spicy salad would be a great match. (Inexplicably I also had a bottle of the 2010 vintage of this wine, and despite drinking it in 2014 it was still fantastic). From an aesthetics point of view, the bottle and label design looks great with white linen and silver cutlery. A classy wee Sav.

I'm not the SB fan in this family however Mrs Action Hero reported this one very enjoyable with a clean crisp SB nose and after taste, she allowed me a wee sip so I could honestly write this review, so who am I to contradict my darling wife, after all she enjoyed the whole bottle and asked if there was any more, so what better recommendation does one need to buy another case and earn the browny points???

Firstly. I am not a fan of Sauvignon Blanc so I shared this with some friends who are and they liked it. The nose is quite grassy (more silage than freshly mown) but not unpleasant. The palate is packed with gooseberry and a little stone fruit. The finish is a bit short and it lacks that acidity which is what I usually dislike in a Sauvignon Blanc so for me that was a positive but I'm not sure SB fans would feel the same. I would rate it 3/5 but the others said 4.

Young, but definitely a Sauvignon blanc, with that characteristic grassy flavour. A drank it on its own, not chilled. I think a few months older, slightly chilled and with the right food, the experience would have been more enjoyable. Not sure if its worth the extra dollars, maybe the Waipipi would be better. (Or buy both and compare!)

More melon and gooseberry, and less acid bite, thsn I'd expect from a top Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. So for me the 2012 rates only mid-range, although I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth! I'd be interested to compare it with the Whirehaven Marlborough'Greg' version from the same vintage, which I would guess was allocated the best of the available fruit.
