“These worked fine for me, but they are misnamed. They fit other Rockler black plastic fittings, and the best part is that you can just screw on the hose. I'd give them more stars if it were not VERY DANGERIOUS to promote using PVC sewer pipe for dust collection!!!! doing so is illegal in commercial and industrial shops, and while not illegal, should NOT be used in home/hobbyist shops. If you believe that you are saving money by using PVC pipe from a home center for your dust collection, calculate again. You MUST - MUST have your system completely grounded - unless you want your shop to blow up or catch on fire. Go online and watch the videos of shops on fire because of ungrounded systems. Buying steel spiral pipe is much cheaper than PVC with the necessary copper wire to both wrap and run inside the pipes (riveted between the two for connectivity). Thus, buying the correct ducting in the first place will save you both money AND time (it takes a long time to completely wrap pvc pipe for grounding). think about it; your sander makes microscopic dust which is highly flammable and is moving through an ungrounded PBV pipe which generated high-voltage static... a recipe for an explosion and/or fire. Thus, if you ignore the irresponsible name of the fitting, and instead use it to attach your flex hose to wither a wye, elbow, or steel pipe, it will fit perfectly and work well for you. Just remember that this also is ungrounded, so be sure to bridge your grounding - both inside and inside across this fitting. additionally, should you choose to use ungrounded PVC in your garage, and your shop goes up in flames, do not be surprised if your homeowner's insurance does not cover it - it is an intentional hazard.”

Hi Joe, Thank you for you review! I spoke with our team regarding your concerns, and they say you have the right application, these fitting are designed specifically for use with PVC pipe found in home centers. It looks like your biggest concern is that the PVC is not grounded, which is up to the customer to install. Using non-metallic raceways like PVC pipe can cause static build up as dust and debris travel though the dust collection system. Also though it is not necessary, it is recommended that a bare copper wire be installed on the inside of the pipe and grounded to provide a way for the static to discharge.

“This is a useless piece of crap!!! Does not fit anything. Even Technical support did not know what is was used for!!! Purchase the normal hose fitting instead!!!! And then use it with a sewer pipe. I bought two for $16; cost me $8 to ship back for a refund.”

“Don't know what these adapters are designed to fit but it is not 4" pvc pipe or fittings. I confirmed this for both schedule 40 and thin wall schedule 20. Doesn't sound like many people are having any success with these. Dusty reported it 8 years ago and still the same issues remain. The dust collection manufactures really need to sit down and come up with standardized fittings. Sad really..”

“The left hand thread does not work on other popular 4 inch hoses. So beware. Otherwise it would be useful as it saves you a clamp”

“Spec says: Smooth side outside diameter approximately 4.000 inches So, this is for the heavier white Sch40 pipe. As most of us use SDR-35 (3000# crush / 117psi pressure), lighter and cheaper than Sch40, this these WILL NOT work.”

“Like the other PVC adapter available here, this one didn't fit Schedule 40 DWV pvc pipe available from my local orange hardware store. It's a touch too large to fit inside and squeezing with strapping it still would not fit it inside.”
