Love this pen kit. This is my go to pen for all blanks including wood, acrylic, and antler. I have made 50+ pens with this kit and have about 40 kits waiting to be assembled. I was surprised at the low ranking reviews this pen kit received and I read all of the reviews. The clip is meant to be tight fittingng. Be patient and place the clip squarely over the cap and wiggle it on. I have found two reasons the pen may not twist properly. The first reason is that the body could be too short because too much material (and brass tube) may have been removed while sanding or squaring the ends of the blank. The second reason is that the top of the transmission could be too long. I have seen this problem in many kits, not just the Princeton. I found that you could easily fix this by lightly grinding the top of the transmission on a grinding wheel. This solution also works if you square your blanks too short.

This is an extremely attractive pen but the clip will not fit correctly as the instructions describe. I ruined one clip by trying to ream it out with a drill bit. Maybe a Dremel and sanding tube next time.

I was looking forward making this pen. I bought several kits. When I assembled the pen the mechanism no longer worked. I had tested it prior to assembling. Well, I will take it apart and fix what us causing it to bind up. Good luck with that! This is not a pen that is made for disassembling. My beautiful piece of Macassar Ebony was wasted. It really doesn’t matter how good a pen looks if it simply will not function. For that and the fact that the only thing it is good for us wasting my time, money and filling up my trash can, I give it a 1 star because I can’t give it zero. I have made in excess of 1,000 pens and this kit is a problem.

I like the look and feel of this pen kit but there seems to be an obvious oversight when it was produced. The instructions say the clip should be placed over the transmission coupler but there is no way to do that because it is too small of an opening. I purchased two kits and they both have issues with the clip fitting. The first kit I made, I omitted the clip but I'd like to use it on the second. I guess I'm going to have to ream the opening out and hope I don't mess it up. I saw one other reviewer with this issue; did everyone else get a better version of the kit?

the transmission is screwed into the front of the pen, but the transmission will often unscrew rather than advance the ink. This makes the pen unreliable and not good enough for sale.

Yes, I had the very hard twist to advance the pen tip as well. I bought six of these, so I want them to work. I took 1 drop from the end of the plastic WD40 tube, and rubbed it onto the outside of part B after I had screwed off the top from the assembled pen. Twist action silky, and refill replacement is now easy. I am fairly new to pen turning as well ( I've made 41 pens at this point ). I found assembly to be the most difficult compared to other kits I've worked with. There are 4 presses instead of 2 or 3, and pressing part B was a pain. I ended up having to round the corner (by light sanding) to be pressed in order for it to go in straight. The first 4 attempts it wanted to go sideways, and I new the brass would just buckle if I forced it. Perhaps a pen press would have been better, I'm just using my lathe. I love the design. The roller clip is seen on expensive name brand pens, and the finish is great. The parts are weighty and made of metal. The pen feels like quality.

I really like the look and feel of this pen. I've probably made 10 of them in the past year and the last 4 I've gotten have all had really terrible twist action. They twist clean when the mechanism is outside the pen, but once reinserted inside it takes a lot of force to twist and feels gritty as it turns. The design is one of my favorites, but this issue is keeping me from buying more.
