I put together five of these seam rippers for my wife to give her quilter friends for Christmas this year. The walnut handles look very rich with the gold finish. I love building Woodcraft kits.

I am a wood worker but also a quilter. I have made many of these for customers but without replacement blades I am going to drop these from my inventory! Having to buy another kit just to replace a broken/dull seam ripper blade make them impractical as an item that I will carry in my inventory. Yes, these do get dull! You need to figure out how to replace them without purchasing a complete kit!

I was in store before the holidays after buying my first lathe and the drive to make a few gifts for friends and family this year. I had come in for some blanks to make handles for ice cream scoopers and pizza cutters. The salesman noticed my hand made masks my wife and I were wearing. They were made by my mom who made over 900 of them in the early months of the pandemic. As any good salesman would, he pointed these seam rippers out to me as another thoughtful gift. He mentioned he had been informed the blades were sharp japanese steel and we're really nice. It sounded fun and the kit wasn't very expensive so I grabbed one. It was my first time needing a pen mandrel so there was a learning curve. After a few youtube videos and a trip back to Woodcraft to get the bushings for this as well I was all set. Luckily I had the foresight to buy extra brass tubes knowing I was likely to screw up on my first try. I used a spare piece of walnut I had to give it a go. I think I nailed it on my second attempt. I was floored. It's was beautiful. And now I'm hooked. Bought like 3 more kits for other people in my life. I just need an excuse to make them.

I ordered these for a client but there are no instructions on how to make it. There is a link that has nothing on it. I am at a loss as to what to do? Tim Tingle

The o rings are cheap and no instructions came with the kit. Better seam ripper kits can be found elsewhere for cheaper
