Fit and finish is great. This is now my go to marker. Just need to darken up the graduations a bit and it’s 100%. Thanks.

It has a lot of heft and the flat on the edge of the brass body is good to keep it from rolling off the bench! It has markings on the body in inches, but is very hard to see. I took sandpaper to the shaft so that it keeps its setting better! The cutter recesses into the head to keep it from being damaged. The screw to keep the cutter head in place needs locktite to keep it tight! Otherwise it wants to loosen up and give you a wonky mark! The blade needs a lot of work on fine stones or sandpaper to get it where it should be, it once there it cuts a mark well! For the price it’s a decent cutting gauge! I have several glen drakes and they are better by far, but are also twice the price! Pick your poison and pay the fare for what you want! Also, check out Rob Cosman’s website for different size cutters that do different jobs! He also has spare rods for the gauge!

Quality I would say is fair, not poor but not not great. The cutter is very dull. If I was going to purchase a marking gauge again, I would buy the Veritas. Much better quality and you get spare cutter as well. I guess for the money it is OK but take the money and put it towards a Veritas. You get what you pay for.

Question: Does the cutter (circular blade) rotate on the end of the shaft, or is it affixed tightly to it with the screw and one must rotate the entire device to expose a new edge? By the bye, what is the Rockwell hardness of the blade& are there spare one's available?

got strong fingers and tighten hard, but still find this thing moving on me pretty enough, but for the price, i did expect a more reliable locking action

Takes final tweaks to become accurate. Package says is made in the same factory as their planes. That factory is made in China. If I’d known I paid a little more for made in America. No more orders from Woodriver.

Nice little marking gauge for the price. Feels good in hand and seems to hold its measurements ok. Doesn't fall off the bench because the locking wheel is tall enough to act as a stop. One thing to note...this tool will take some work to get working effectively. The cutting wheel is extremely dull and will not even leave a mark in the wood right out of the box. You will literally spend an hour of sharpening to get it anywhere near sharp.

I couldn't possibly complain about this tool. It works as it is meant to. Looks good and feels good in the hand.
