I bought this from Woodcraft near St. Louis several years ago. It has been great right from the start. The fit and finish was great and it has held up very well. The vise is very smooth and strong. I added a cast iron handle to the back which helps a lot. I also made a couple of stops to use with the bench dogs which made it much more usable. I use it mainly for relief carvings for which it is perfectly suited for. I'm very happy with it and heartily recommend it.

Might be I'm just being picky, but I expected more from sjobergs. A little disappointed in the quality of the fitment. There is definitely a wrap/cup in the top. I would attach the photos but.... Anyway, I was able to use excessive clamping force in conjunction with what I expect is stronger than the glue provided to address the issue(s) - the two feet suffered the same connection issue... We will see how long it lasts.

The workstation assembled without problems. I recommend using a fully charged battery hand drill with a T20 and H3/32 bit to drive the screws down into the hardwood. Throw away the S shaped hand wrench; just add a drop of dishwashing soap to each screw before driving them down. The pilot holes were perfectly aligned. There is also a tube of wood glue provided but I don't recommend using it to eliminate accidently gluing then misalligning the work piece and having to deal with the mess of reallignment. The 4 screws provided offer sufficient assembly without need for glue. The dog holes accepted the spring dogs perfectly. The table surface is slightly convex (high) in the middle but nothing to ruin its function of not being perfectly flat. Over all it assembled with precise allignment.

I picked up this Sjobergs Workstation Pro at my local Woodcraft store since I was getting into a project that needed one and I don't own a bench with a good woodworking vice. I got it home and started dry fitting the pieces and I found the piece that has the nut, which receives the vice threads rocked badly in the rabbet cut into the bottom of the top. I put the top on my desk and found that it was very badly warped (1/8")!! I couldn't believe how bad it was! I expected better from Sjobergs. I sat there and weighed my options. My woodcraft store only had one so taking it back wasn't going to buy me anything and I could end up with the same problem I could call/email Sjobergs but its Saturday and I'm not sure what they could do anyway, except maybe send a new top that I would get in a month. Or I could rework it, which is what I did. I got out my belt sander with a 60 grit belt and went to town on the high spots on both sides. I didn't get it completely flat and I think that's OK. However, the rabbet was still an issue. My belt sander would not get all of the surface. A router with a spoilboard bit would work but I was afraid of doing more damage or taking too much off. I ended up cutting a couple of shims and glued them onto the ends. The rest of the assembly went as expected, which is why I gave it 3 stars. I'm not sure why it was warped; maybe it was a one-off thing. I did not see complaints anywhere else about this.

It is not often these days when a new tool provides such high quality - quality of materials, of fit and of function. Sort of like getting that new Starrett square. Easy to assemble with Torx drivers, everything went together perfectly aligned with no problems. A quick coat of Danish Oil and it is beautiful. Will provide my tiny multi-purpose workshop the ability to do some finer woodworking. Very pleased!!
