Besides requiring an odd diameter drill bit and having not the best instructions, this kit was easy to turn and turned out pretty nice. I'd seen some people complain that it didn't write, but I cleaned the nib with soap and water before assembly to get whatever oils were there from manufacturing off and I think it writes beautifully. I wish it would have come with a better description of the nib section so I could choose a converter for it (or recommended converters) and a longer body to allow for common converters to fit because the body is very short.

Not to review THIS fountain pen, but in reply to the review that said "it won't write", I had the same problem with the Euro-style fountain pen kit until I put a tiny drop of diluted dish-washing soap on the nib. That was enough to break the surface tension and now it's fine! Maybe there was some oil on the nib that prevented the ink from wetting it.

Is there away to change out the fountain pen for a roller ball. This pen kit I would not recommend.

This is a nice looking pen that is easy to turn. Looks great when finished. The only issue is the nib on the pen. It is so fine that it is very rough and scratchy when writing. There is no way to adjust the nib to smooth it out. The nib makes the pen pretty much useless for writing. So even though it looks good, I would not recommend the fountain pen version because of the nib.

Would not recommend this pen if you want to write with it. The nib is so fine that it is very scratchy and rough when writing. Looks nice, feels good, but writes horribly.

The kit looks absolutely fantastic, and it feels good in my hand when assembled. But nothing I can do will make it write. The cartridge included seemed dry and empty, so I tried flushing it several times, and the converter could draw water in and expel it out. But when I put in a good new cartridge, no ink flow. I'd disassemble the nib to see what was wrong with the feed, but the design of this pen doesn't seem to allow for that. Very disappointing that such a gorgeous pen is nothing more than something to look at.
