This thing is very poorly designed and is far from universal. I am sorry I wasted $80 on it and since I had to make a few modifications on it to work for me, I am stuck with it. I am disappointed.

The angle joint that connects the upright pole to the horizontal one is poorly designs and begins to bend before it's even connected to a hose. There should be a recall on this item.

The item came scratched in many locations and had a little rust in one of the welds, but this isn't the biggest issue with this item. The first main hinge is extremely under-built (I have no idea why it isn't built with support like the second hinge--except to cut cost) and it bends in any configuration. This metal will snap quite soon with such back and forth. I emailed customer service twice about this issue and have not received any response whatsoever. I included pictures and an Amazon review of this item that states the exact same issue (I wish I had seen it before). I can only imagine that any positive reviewers are setting this item in a static, locked position and never moving it; to use it the way it is intended is impossible with this poor construction.

Don't buy. This is really poorly designed and made of low quality metal. All the joints are stamped and can barely hold up their own weight. If you attach a 4" hose, the whole contraption bends and falls down. I have several bungie cords jury-rigged from my ceiling to hold up the weight. Please don't bother with this one. I've always been impressed with the quality of Woodcraft's tools until I got this one. I can't think of a single use case where this would work well.

I recently purchased this boom arm and I can't tell you how great it is. I picked my boom arm up at a Woodcraft store. When I got home I opened the box and it had a few scratches but that doesn't bother me, I mean its in a woodsheop its going to get scratches. Overall super happy with it and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I really wanted this to work for my lathe. I’m not sure how this ever got into wood crafts catalog. It is a total POS. The tubing is very thin and weak. The joints can’t even support the weight of the arms let alone if a dust hose is attached. Again, I can’t believe this made it into woodcraft catalog.Unfortunately, I committed to installing this and now have a gaggle of bungee cords supporting its weight. Boy did I want this to work. Do not buy. Do not buy. Do not buy. Woodcraft shame on you.
