“I bought this set a few weeks before a carving class at my Woodcraft shop. The shafts of the gouges are too thick and make proper cutting angle hard to achieve. They were reasonably sharp out of the package, but the angles were wrong. Most were too steep, and with the thick shaft very hard to cut down to proper angles. The instructor of the class was appalled that the Woodriver brand would be so bad! He was able to make the gouges make some clean cuts, but I was not. Handles are round and roll very easily, so Iâ€™m afraid one will roll to the floor soon. I have to use a lot of care to put them down where they canâ€™t roll away. Better to buy a few good gouges as you need them and donâ€™t waste your money on this set.”
