I purchased this lamp with my Laguna 14BX a few months ago. This is a well engineered and produced light. Nice and bright and adjustable. Once caveat, it is heavy you need a friend to help install. Mine did not have the correct hardware. I installed it on the top of the saw with better screws and nyloc nuts. I would recommend this part.

This looks like a great light, and if the quality and build of the 14BX Bandsaw is any indicator, it should be. But here comes the but…I wrongly assumed the 50w’s meant halogen or LED, BUT it doesn’t. For 175.00 it has an extremely weak bulb…it’s just a regular 50w standard light bulb. It’s built like a tank and looks cool, but I want LIGHT! It’s also a PITA to install. You’ve got to hold everything in place (the light is a two person job), while trying to reach your hand into an impossibly small area to thread the nuts and washers. I spent more time sweeping my floor looking for screws, washers and nuts than is reasonable. Install was definitely an afterthought! But all that could be forgotten IF it put out enough light to be useful. I passed on WAY brighter, and CHEAPER lights to stick with Laguna…that won’t happen again.

It's a little overpriced, but it's a good unit so I'm alright overpaying a little. I will say I was frustrated when I unboxed the light to find that there was a plug end on the power cord. I was sitting there thinking "well that's stupid, now I have to cut this plug off and figure out how to splice this into the saw motor power. Who wants to wire in an extra 220 outlet just for a light". It turns out the Laguna saw has an outlet on the back specifically for plugging in the light, which is a very nice touch in my opinion. Before I received it, I had just assumed the light would hard wire in somewhere. So annoyance turned into appreciation pretty quick. I do think they ought to put a tag on the cord that says "plug in to back of saw" or something for anyone who might not have looked at the instructions yet.

Not one to run right out and pen a review for every workshop accessory I buy, but I'm doing so for two reasons; first, this item is perfect in every way, from build quality to fit and finish, and probably most importantly it throws light like a portable SUN!! Secondly, since the only other review was a one-star submission from someone who admittedly bought the WRONG ITEM it needed a little balance.

My mistake, I ordered the 220 instead of the 120v. Laguna doesn't take returns/exchanges so I'm out $175.00. Time to go to Office Depot and buy a desk light with a desk clamp on it.
