Straight out of the box plugged it in turned it on and a huge flash of sparks out of the switch. After resetting my 20 amp breaker I made sure the fan was spinning freely. It was so i tried again. this time it worked for 10 seconds before blowing. Laguna told me that the issue was low voltage at my outlet which measured 125v and had never been an issue with other tools. I took the motor out and dropped it off at a motor rebuilder. They told me that the motor had an internal short and would have to be replaced, I braced my self for the cost of replacement. $40! is all that cheap piece of crap costs! I opted for a upgraged made USA model for $145 I was happy to pay it because I know I will have no more issues.

Have had the same problem. Dust constantly coming out from seems of motor housing and added issue of intake tube clogging once and awhile just before the motor. Only run a table saw and Dewalt Planer with dust separator to the unit. Does the job but for the money shouldn't have these problems.

Product seemed to be very high quality and sturdy but was disappointed to find air leaking from where the motor mounted to the unit. Emailed customer service and was told "sorry, shouldn't be leaking air, take it apart and put silicon caulking around it". Expected much better quality given the price. Hopefully an anomaly but expected better.
