Machine works great but unboxing and putting the stand together with the sander is #&?%. Took my neighbor and I about 1-1/2 hrs to get the stand mated up with the sander (and still had to drill out a few holes). We had to turn the sander upside down to get the stand parts to fit together. After finally getting it together, the machine works fine. Be sure to remove the black plastic spacer underneath the drum before calibrating.

Belt tracking is poor at best. It also seems to bog down too easily even with small change in depth of cut. Had better performance with older Jet 1020 that I replaced.

Tracking has been an issue from day one. I spent over 10 hours getting Laguna to send me another conveyor belt. Still has issues unless you loosen one side completely and tighten the other completely. Now at under 40 hours of use the sanding drum jumps up and down violently. I have a Preformax 16-32 which I have used for over a decade. I know how to wrap and tighten the sand paper. That's not the problem. Upon further inspection I found that the rubber bushings on the drive coupler are beat to shreds. The set screws are still tight, so that's not the problem. There is apparently an alignment problem. At this point I am attempting to contact Laguna tech help, again. Wish me luck.

Machine works fairly well...for about 6 months. So far, after about a year and a half, I’m on my third catastrophic failure, leaving my production shop without a drum sander for at least a week. The control unit failed after about 8 months, the conveyor fell apart a month after that and now the DC motor driving the conveyor has failed. Done - I’ll be repairing this machine for the last time, selling it for whatever I can get and buying the Jet or Grizzly like I should have done in the first place. To add insult to injury, while Laguna/Supermax was at least willing to send me a replacement motor after I explained my shop was in the middle of a large order that couldn’t proceed without the sander, they dropped the ball, leaving the order to sit for three days before shipping it. If you can’t rely on the machine, you should at least be able to rely on the company to make it right.

Easy to assemble, well built. I have to issues, and they maybe just with my tool. Setting parallax between drum and feed table is not easy if you have eyesight issues. Second the feed belt tracking will not adjust. It always runs to the motor side no matter how it is adjusted.
