“I gave 4 stars because I assumed the pad was a soft rubber, similar to the standard camp tips, since the description read "no marring or crushing. I had hoped we could cut the pad to conform to the piece being clamped, and you can, but be aware the tip is still hard plastic, so great for spreading out the load but not so great for non-marring wood if it is cut.”

“I needed a jig to cut 20 tapered staves with 9° beveled sides. Mounting a toggle clamp on an adjustable platform I wanted a longer bolt so the pad could adequately hold 3/8” thick boards below the level of the bottom of the clamp base. These clamps with spring forced, rectangular, hard plastic pads worked perfectly.”
