Straightforward to assemble with the included instructions, the kit includes the 5 components of the ebony jig, a Mujingfang mini plane, also made from solid ebony, sandpaper, and two pairs of shungee rosewood battens.
Additional pre-dimensioned battens are available separately.

“This is a nice little starter set, although needs a little modification of the central groove once assembled to ensure the wood stays in place while planing. Also the bench stop that screws into the base is not brilliantly pre-drilled for accurate placement and could do with deeper screws. I strongly suggest ordering additional pack or two of chopstick blanks at the same time, as the four blanks supplied in the box with the jig were unusable due to being non uniform in dimensions and also from being completely warped out of shape. The plane itself is simple but sharp and works well, so overall I would say this is a nice little diversion for someone who wants to try their had at simple forming.”
