There is no reason on earth for dividers to be this gorgeous - Starrett 277's are a luxurious treat, plain and simple.The slight bow of the legs, like a ballerina poised 'en pointe', tips correctly and intentionally crossing very slightly. The unnecessary but gorgeous radiused edges on the fulcrum bobbin and bowspring, the use of a self-lubricating engineering plastic for obscenely smooth and precise adjustment...Sometimes it's just nice to have something better than 'good enough' in your life, especially if it puts a smile on your face at the exact moment when you yourself are trying to do something 'better than good enough'.Same principle as a Rolex watch - but not quite as expensive.
