Ray Iles RI023 2⅜" (60mm) plane iron, 2mm thick, O1 carbon steel hardened to RC59-61.
This high quality thin iron is designed as a drop in replacement for valuable old tools where alteration of the mouth may adversely affect their value. Installing a Quangsheng or Clifton cap iron with this blade will give 80-90% of the benefit that would be achieved with a thicker iron.

I have replaced the blade in my father’s old Stanley Baily Jack plane, I can’t believe how much better it is now compared with the old blade the transformation is amazing!

I tried another plane blade, but like most 60mm ones, it was about 3mm and much too thick for the narrow mouth of my old Record no 6. This is thinner and totally suitable for the job. It levelled an old bowed bit of oak brilliantly!

A nice quality well made blade a true step up from a Stanley or Record blade. When backed with a good cap iron is an excellent replacement in my vintage bedrock with out having to do mods to make it work. Nice to think a quality British product. Thoroughly recommended..

My 1895 Stanley 7 hand plane needed a new blade. A Ray Iles Plane Iron RI023S 2-3/8 inch was recommended, honed etc. and fitted. The blade produces brilliant results with little effort. I highly recomment both the mlade and the service.

Fitted to my Stanley #6 as a straight replacement for the stock Stanley blade, no need to change the yoke. Easily sharpened and leaves a fantastically smooth surface, even when set up as a fore plane.
