Petrograd chisel guards are made from three layers of thick bridle leather riveted together, the middle layer forms a welt that protects the edge from coming into contact with the rivets. Handcrafted in Russia.

“My bad, but I hadn't realised how big these Petrograd edge guards were until they were delivered. These guards are more suited to more robust and larger framing chisels than bench ones in my opinion. To make them more useable, i.e. fit in a chisel roll, I'm going to have to cut them in half lengthwise. This is necessary as this make of edge guard is the only one I've found at any sort of reasonable price to fit a 1.5" chisel. Knowing now how big they are, I probably wouldn't have bought them if I'd known this beforehand, tbh.”
