The Quangsheng rebating block has the advantage of being able to reach into an internal corner. Think of it as a broad, comfortable shoulder plane rather than a block plane with added versatility and you won't go far wrong.It pays to treat open sided planes a little more gently than standard ones, particularly when it comes to tightening down the iron.The continuous U section of a standard plane provides a good deal of its stiffness, making it more important than usual to apply the minimum force necessary to hold the blade in position.Specifications:

“I just wanted a standard block plane for my guitar making course but they had sold out. Bought this as a risky second choice. Big result. It allows you to get right in close and is ideal for the job. I have lent it to many others on the course and they all agree it's better than the standard one.”

“I bought a Quangsheng block plane a while ago, and really like it's feel and build quality, so I got this as a Christmas present for myself and I'm really happy with it. It's got the same quality and comfortable feel, but reaches those places other planes can't reach. But take care of overtightening”

“I'm new to wood work, but a long time DIYer. Bought this to use for some sash window box frame repairs. Was pretty sharp out of the box but once sharpened is a joy to use. I haven't used a plane since school and only then in. Limited capacity. This tool made short and easy work of the hard wood!”

“I got this plane together with some other tools that day. Matthew recommended this one instead of a shoulder plane I was interested in initially because the rebate plane would be better value because it would cover a greater variety of applications. And so right his is. Used it a lot since that day.”

“Bought this to add to my tool collection after buying a QS4. Its got a good feel to it and fits well in the hand. Quality is right up there with more expensive planes. Blade needed a little work to flatten the back but that was all, the casting is very well finished.”
