“I had 800, 1200, and 6000 grit stones. The 4000 I bought to enable sharpening without recourse to return to the 1200. The 4000 seems hard wearing - will not need dressing, flattening frequently - produces a polished finish so the edge profile may be seen before going to the 6000. Does not cut much.”
